Anuel AA Announces Long-Term Partnership with Reebok

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and singer, who teamed up for capsule collaborations in the fall of 2022, has officially announced a long-term partnership with Reebok.

“As a lifelong fan of Reebok, becoming part of the brand is a dream come true,” Anuel (real name: Emmanuel Gazmey Santiago) said in a press statement. “I have long admired Reebok’s unique designs and iconic roster of collaborators who have never shied away from writing their own rules. It’s a special feeling to know that I’m considered a member of the team and that they not only believe in me but give me the space for unbridled creative expression. I am so honored to be a part of this brand’s legacy and help shape its next chapter.”

In August 2022, Anuel AA debuted his sneaker capsule called “The Sky Above the Street” featuring two signature Reebok models: the Classic Leather and Pump Omni Zone 2 in red and black colorways – “inspired by the sun-faded vibrant urban neighborhoods and outdoor courts of Puerto Rico and celebrates the beauty of the community and its people,” according to a press release. Through the collection, Anuel donated to the local non-profit organization SER De Puerto Rico, supporting the organization’s mission of uplifting people with disabilities.

Of the new contract, Anuel thanked prolific basketball player Shaquille O’Neal—and a partial owner of Reebok—for believing in him.

The 28-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and singer has joined voices with Anuel AA to release the new single “Triste Verano” via Rimas Entertainment.

“Un verano sin ti, me tienes aquí desde junio hasta agosto,” cries Carrión, a slick reference to labelmate Bad Bunny’s last album.

The sad-themed spring song surprises a season too soon because of an unintended leak.

“It’s a song that I accidentally posted as a story. It was only up for like 15 seconds and then I deleted it. So this is probably one of the songs, and collab, that my fans have been waiting for,” Carrión tells Billboard Español.

The first wave of performers has been announced for this year’s Latin AMAs, with the 30-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and singer among those set to take center stage at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas

Other performers include newlyweds Guaynaa and Lele Pons, who will perform a medley that includes their latest collaboration “Abajito”; Myke Towers, who will perform his newest track “Mi Droga”; and Prince Royce, who will surprise viewers with an unreleased song.

Additionally, Spanish newcomer Bad Gyal and Regional Mexican crooner Eden Muñoz will make their Latin AMAs debut. The former will deliver her single “Chulo,” and the latter will offer his viral solo hit “Chale!

Nominations for the 2023 awards — based on streaming, sales, radio airplay, tours, and even social media interactions data provided by Billboard and Luminate during the eligibility period (February 12, 2022, through February 4, 2023) — are led by Bad Bunny with 11 nominations. He’s followed by Becky G and Daddy Yankee, each with nine nominations; at eight nods each are Grupo Frontera, Karol G, Rauw Alejandro, Romeo Santos, and Rosalía.

Meanwhile, Muñoz, Bizarrap, Blessd, Grupo Frontera, Los Lara, Luis Figueroa, Luis R Conriquez, Quevedo, Santa Fe Klan and Yahritza y Su Esencia are nominated in the best new artist category.

Carlos Vives and Pepe Aguilar will be recognized as 2023 Latin AMAs Legacy honorees. This year’s ceremony will be co-hosted by Galilea Montijo, Julián Gil and Natti Natasha.

For the first time since its debut on October 8, 2015, on Telemundo, the ceremony will be broadcast live simultaneously on Univision, UNIMÁS and Galavisión after TelevisaUnivision acquired the rights from dick clark productions in September.

Ozuna Becomes New Owner of Puerto Rican Basketball Team Los Osos de Manatí, Previously Known as Los Brujos de Guayama

The 30-year-old Puerto Rican singer and rapper is officially the new owner of a basketball team in Puerto Rico, the Baloncesto Nacional Superior de Puerto Rico has announced.

The sports organization revealed that the chart-topping artist has acquired Los Brujos de Guayama. Due to the franchise’s transfer to the municipality of Manatí, the team has been renamed to Los Osos de Manatí (Manatí Bears). With Juan Aubín Cruz Coliseum as their home venue, Los Osos de Manatí become the first BSN team in that municipality since 2017.

Ricardo Dalmau, president of the BSN, added: “It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Ozuna to the BSN family. The commitment shown throughout this entire process gives us confidence in what his management will be in charge of the new Osos de Manatí. I take this opportunity to thank Rafael Rodríguez for his commitment to the league and the Brujos de Guayama franchise, which he led for the last 10 years.”

Ozuna joins a growing number of Latin artists that have ventured into the sports world by purchasing basketball teams in Puerto Rico. The list includes moves from Bad Bunny, who became the co-owner of Los Cangrejeros de Santurce and Anuel AA, who purchased Capitanes de Arecibo along with his manager Frabian Eli, in 2021.

Instead of flocking to basketball like their fellow hitmakers, duo Wisin & Yandel is placing all bets on baseball as new co-owners of Criollos de Caguas, the latest champions of the Liga de Béisbol Profesional Roberto Clemente (LBPRC).

The 37-year-old Colombian singer’s “Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life)” music video in collaboration with Black Eyed Peas has surpassed 1 billion views, officially making him the artist with the most videos in YouTube’s Billion Views Club once again, according to the video platform.

J Balvin“Ritmo,” which was released on October 11, 2019, on YouTube, marks Balvin’s 12th entry as a lead, featured artist or collaborator. Prior to reclaiming the crown this week, Balvin was tied with Justin Bieber with 11 music videos each with a billion views.

In 2016, he became the first Latin urban artist to reach 10 digits with a video on the platform with “Ay Vamos.” He was only the third Latin artist to reach a billion views, following Enrique Iglesias’ “Bailando,” featuring Gente de Zona and Descemer Bueno, and Romeo Santos’ “Propuesta Indecente,” both in 2014.

Balvin also has one of the top five fastest videos to reach the billion-view mark with “Mi Gente,” surpassing the number in 103 days.

“Ritmo (Bad Boys for Life)” samples Corona’s ’90s hit “Rhythm of the Night,” fusing hip-hop and pop with Balvin’s incendiary and infectious take on reggaeton.

charts in 2020, becoming the Peas’ first leader on each ranking and Balvin’s first on the dance chart.

Anuel AAFoot Locker is launching the official debut of the rapper’s Reebok’s sneaker collaboration, “The Sky Above the Street,” which will feature two signature Reebok models: the Classic Leather and Pump Omni Zone 2 in red and black colorways – “inspired by the sun-faded vibrant urban neighborhoods and outdoor courts of Puerto Rico and celebrates the beauty of the community and its people,” according to a press release.

Anuel AA will be donating a portion of the proceeds from the collection to the local non-profit organization SER De Puerto Rico, supporting the organization’s mission uplifting people with disabilities.

The collection launches on August 26 at 10:00 am ET exclusively at Foot Locker.

Shakira Teams Up with Rauw Alejandro for “Te Felicito,” Due April 22

The 45-year-old Colombian superstar has joined voices with Rauw Alejandro for her next single, called “Te Felicito.”

Shakira revealed the news by posting the single’s cover art, where she’s posing next to the Puerto Rican sensation, with both rocking metallic outfits.

“I’m happy to share the release of my new single #TeFelicito with Rauw Alejandro,” she captioned the post, also using the robot emoji to hint at a futuristic music video. Marking their first-ever collaborative effort, “Te Felicito” will premiere Friday, April 22.

In the same social media post, Shak — who has collaborated with Puerto Rican artists like Anuel AA, Residente and Pedro Capo — also invited her fans to pre-save the song on Spotify, Apple and Deezer “to be among the first to listen to their new music.”

“Te Felicito” follows Shakira’s EDM bop “Don’t Wait Up,” which was released in summer 2021. Currently, she’s an executive producer of NBC’s Dancing With Myself, where she’s also a judge alongside Nick Jonas and actress Liza Koshy.

Rauw, on the other hand, is set to wrap his 2022 tour on April 24 at San Jose’s SAP Center and is making the rounds with his latest single “Museo,” part of his Trap Cake, Vol. 2 album, which earned the artist his fourth top 10 success on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart, debuting at No. 6 on the March 12-dated ranking.

Rauw Alejandro Earns 7th No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart with “Cúrame”

The 29-year-old Puerto Rican singer and rapper has reached the top of BillboardLatin Airplay chart as “Cúrame” lifts 7-1 in its 17th week to lead the March 5-dated ranking.

Rauw AlejandroWith the chart-topping move, the Greatest Gainer song of the week gifts Rauw Alejandro his seventh No. 1 among a collection of 17 entries.

He previously took over atop the chart with the Latin pop hit and three-week ruler “Todo de Ti” (between July, August and December 2021), the longest the Puerto Rican reigned on the charts with a song. The latter has held steady in the list’s top 10 for 38 weeks during its 40-week term and counting (currently at No. 5).

With a 17-week trek to the top, “Cúrame” joins a group of two other songs that have completed the slow-but-steady journey to the top in 2022 so far.

Jhay Cortez and Anuel AA’s “Ley Seca” took 19 weeks to arrive at No. 1 on the February 5-dated survey. Karol G’s “Sejodioto” also crossed the barrier in its 17th week.

“Cúrame” knocks Romeo Santos’ “Huellas” from its one-week reign (dips to No. 2) with 9.19 million in audience impressions, up 58%, earned in the week ending February 27, according to MRC Data. It’s the biggest percentage gain of the week, ahead of Raymix’s latest single “Te Voy a Conquistar,” with NZO, which debuts at No. 42 with a 43% gain.

“Cúrame” is the sixth single from Rauw’s two-week champ Vice Versa, his second studio album and first No. 1 on Top Latin Albums (July 10, 2021-dated chart). The new No. 1 arrives after the Puerto Rican released the EP Trap Cake Vol. 2 on February 25, the follow-up to the EP’s first volume in 2019 (the latter set has not entered the charts).

Beyond its Latin Airplay coronation, “Cúrame” rises 4-1 on Latin Rhythm Airplay, where it also follows “Todo de Ti” as his seventh chart-topper.

Romeo Santos’ “Sin Huellas” Debuts at No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart

The 40-year-old Puerto Rican and Dominican American singer has notched his 20th No. 1 on Billboard‘s Latin Airplay chart as his latest single, “Sus Huellas,” debuts atop the list dated February 26.

It’s just the fourth song to debut at No. 1 in the last five years on Latin Airplay, following Ozuna’s “La Funka” (2021), Lunay, Ozuna and Anuel AA’s “Aventura” (2019) and Santos’ own “Heroe Favorito” (2017).

On Latin Airplay, “Sus Huellas” leads with 9.1 million in audience impressions earned in the week ending February 20, according to MRC Data.

The song was released February 14, the first day of the tracking week, to become the most played song among Latin stations.

It dethrones Sebastian Yatra’s “Tacones Rojos” after its one week in charge.

With 20 total leaders on his account, Santos ties with Wisin, and concurrently extends his record for the most No. 1s among tropical acts. Here’s a recap of the leaderboard on Latin Airplay:

The No. 1 arrival of “Sin Huellas” on Latin Airplay also marks a new triumph for Santos.

He last took over the chart with a No. 1 debut almost five years ago, when “Heroe Favorito” bowed atop the 50-deep tally in 2017.

In between, he’s placed five other No. 1 hits, including the four-week champ “Imitadora” in July 2017.

“Sin Huellas” also becomes Santos’ first No. 1 as a solo act, without an unaccompanied artist, since “Centavito” ruled for one week in December 2018.

As on Latin Airplay, “Sus Huellas” is Santos’ first No. 1 debut on Tropical Airplay since 2017 among a collection of 16 total wins, including two 15-week rulers (“Centavito” in 2018 and “La Mejor Versión de Mi,” with Natti Natasha, in 2019).

Beyond its Latin Airplay and Tropical Airplay coronations, “Sus Huellas” bows at No. 21 on the all-metric Hot Latin Songs chart (a blend of airplay, digital sales, and streaming data), Santos’ highest start there since “Aullando,” with Wisin & Yandel, arrived at No. 19 in 2019.

The song generated 1.61 million streams in the U.S. in the week ending February 17, after only four days of tracking. It concurrently sold a little under 1,000 downloads, enough for a No. 4 start on Latin Digital Song Sales.

“Sus Huellas,” written by Santos, is the first single from his forthcoming album Formula, Vol. 3.

Anuel AA to Compete in NBA All-Star Celebrity Game

The 29-year-old Puerto Rican rapper/singer will compete in next week’s NBA All-Star Celebrity Game.

Anuel AA, who is a sponsor of Women’s National Superior Basketball League in Puerto Rico, will join Machine Gun Kelly, Jack Harlow and Quavo to showcase their ball skills.

Others set to compete include Kane Brown, Jimmie Allen, Tiffany Haddish, Ranveer Singh, Nyjah Huston, and Cleveland Mayor Justin Bibb.

Quavo, a founding member of rap trio Migos, is a veteran of the run-and-gun “Celebrity” game, with four previous appearances under his belt.

The two teams will line up next Friday (Feb. 18) at Wolstein Center in Cleveland, and are respectively coached by retired NBA superstars Dominique Wilkins and Bill Walton.

The all-celebrity exhibition game has been regular fixture in the annual NBA All-Star Weekend since 2003, and will be televised and streamed by ESPN from 7 p.m. ET.

DJ Khaled and friends will headline the State Farm All-Star Saturday Night performances, with his support crew to be unveiled in the days ahead.
