Sech Extends Record for Most Non-Consecutive Weeks at No. 1 on Billboard Argentina Hot 100 with “Toro Trago”

Sech is still big in Argentina…

The Panamanian singer’s single “Otro Trago” has now claimed the top spot on the Billboard Argentina Hot 100 for a total of 13 weeks, extending its record for the most non-consecutive weeks at No. 1 on the chart.

Sech

The song by Sech and Darell held first place for seven consecutive weeks before its reign was interrupted by the rise of Rosalia‘s “Con Altura” for 21 days.

But “Otro Trago” returned to the top thanks to the remix of the track joined by three frontline players: OzunaAnuel AA and Nicky Jam.Since its return to No. 1, it has been ruling for six uninterrupted weeks, accumulating a total of 13.

However, the record for most weeks in a row at No. 1 is still Daddy Yankee‘s “Con Calma,” with a total of nine weeks.

The song by “The King of Reggaeton” remains in the Top 10 of the list. The track accumulated 32 weeks on the list, with 31 in the first 10 places. Currently, it is ranked No. 5, rising two places over the previous week.

The Argentina Hot 100 ranks the most popular songs in the country and is compiled by a formula that blends local streaming activity on leading music services like YouTubeSpotify and Apple Music, among others, as well as national radio airplay and plays of songs featured on a variety of Argentine TV networks. Streaming data is provided by Nielsen Music, while radio and TV measurement are powered by BMAT/Vericast.

The Billboard Argentina Hot 100 will appear in each monthly print issue and will be refreshed weekly each Wednesday.

Fat Joe Releases Bilingual Hip-Hop Track “Yes” with Cardi B & Anuel AA

Fat Joe has said Yes to a new hit…

The 49-year-old Puerto Rican and Cuban American rapper has joined voices with Cardi B and Anuel AA to release a surprise song.

Fat Joe, Cardi B & Anuel AA

The trio took over streaming platforms on Friday after releasing their first song together “Yes,” a powerful hip-hop tune that honors the 1972 Héctor Lavoeand Willie Colónhit “Aguanilé.”

What does aguanilé means? It’s a Yoruba word (a language from Nigeria in West Africa) that in salsa it stems from the Afro-Cuban religion called Santería, which basically asks for the purification of earthly possessions.

In the song, Fat Joe, Cardi B, and Anuel AA use the word as a steady chorus.

Meanwhile, the song’s lyrics are about how life is on the New York streets.

Fat Joe and Cardi B sing about power and the money, with Cardi rhyming, “La Cardi, Bardi/ Never been stressed by a ho, no/ Never been pressed by a bitch (by a bitch) Murder and the money on my mind (on my mind),” while Anuel AA adds his unique bad boy style in Spanish.

Ezequiel “EZ” Rivera Agrees to Long-Term Publishing Agreement with Sony/ATV

Ezequiel “EZ” Riverais joining the Sony Musicfamily…

The Puerto Rican urban producer and songwriter has entered in to a long-term publishing agreement with Sony/ATV, according to Billboard.

Ezequiel “EZ” Rivera

“We are so happy to have EZ join our Sony/ATV family,” Jorge Mejia, president and CEO at Sony/ATV Music Publishing, tells Billboard. “He is an outstanding writer and producer, and we can’t wait to work side by side with him as he continues to develop his awesome career.”

Rivera has worked with artists like Arcangel, FarrukoAnuel AA, to name a few. Some of the hits he produced and co-wrote include Farruko’s “Delincuente” in collaboration with Anuel AA and Kendo Kaponi, and “Secreto” by Anuel AA and Karol G.

“Since day one Sony/ATV believed in me and made me feel part of a family,” EZ says. “I am thrilled to be part of their team and look forward to what the future will bring.” Currently, EZ is working with Anuel AA and Farruko on their upcoming individual releases.

Rivera was represented in the deal by attorneys Matt Greenberg and Stephanie Chopurian.

Sech Earns First No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart with “Otro Trago”

Sech has reason to celebrate…

The 25-year-old Panamanian urban singer has earned his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, as his single with Darell, “Otro Trago,” rises 3-1 on the chart dated August 31.

Sech

The new chart-topper arrives a month after the remix of the song, which features Nicky JamOzuna and Anuel AA, was released.

While Sech and Darell, who collaborated on the original version of the track, claim their first No. 1 on the list, Nicky Jam secures his 11th, Ozuna his 12th, and Anuel AA his fourth.

“Otro Trago” rises due in part to a 16% boost in audience impressions (13.8 million), logged in the week ending August 25, according to Nielsen Music.

The song also lands at No. 1 on the Latin Rhythm Airplay tally. It previously topped the Hot Latin Songschart for two nonconsecutive weeks (starting August 10).

Only two other songs have topped the Hot Latin Songs, Latin Airplay, and Latin Rhythm Airplay charts in 2019: Bad Bunny’s “MIA,” featuring Drake, and Daddy Yankee’s “Con Calma,” featuring Snow.

Elsewhere, “Otro Trago” advances 8-7 on Latin Pop Airplay.

The song is Sech’s second single from his debut albumSueñoswhichholds for its fifth consecutive week at No. 3 (its peak) on the Top Latin Albums chart.

Anuel AA’s Single “China,” with Daddy Yankee, Karol G, J Balvin & Ozuna, Rises to No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart

Anuel AA is back at the top of the charts…

The 26-year-old Puerto Rican rapper and singer’s latest single “China,” featuring Daddy YankeeKarol GOzuna and J Balvin, rises 2-1 in just its third week on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart dated August 17.

Anuel AA, Karol G. Ozuna, Daddy Yankee

It’s the fastest climb to the top in 2019 and the quickest ascent since Bad Bunny’s “MIA,” featuring Drake, jumped 9-1 in its second week (October 27, 2018).

“I’m extremely happy, blessed and grateful to God and my fans,” Anuel AA tells Billboard. “I thank my colleagues for trusting me, my team for their great work and giving their 200% to make this dream come true.”

“China” is a reimagination of Shaggy’s 2000 hit “It Wasn’t Me.” It was produced by Tainy and co-written by the five artists on the track.

It opened at No. 2 just three weeks ago, on the August 3-dated list.

“The artists on this track give it an elevated presence right out of the gate given the caliber of each individually and the power they present here collectively,” Ismael Santa Cruz, Vice President, Managing Director Radio Strategy at Univision Communications, tells Billboard. “The fact that the track samples a hit from 19 years ago also helps it build a foundation from which to grow on.”

Despite the song’s decline in streaming activity and digital sales (in the week ending August 8, according to Nielsen Music), “China” moves thanks to 6% boost in audience impressions (to 8 million) earned in the week ending August 11.

The Hot Latin Songs chart ranks the most popular Latin songs of the week, blending streaming, sales and airplay data.

“‘China’ is the strongest song of my career up to date,” Anuel AA told Billboard on July 12. “It’s the mix of different cultures with each of the collaborators contributing with its own flow. I had been looking to revive a classic and when I heard Shaggy’s mix, it hit me.”

“China” is Anuel AA’s third leader, Daddy Yankee’s seventh, Karol G’s second, Ozuna’s fourth, and J Balvin’s sixth. Notably, Karol G becomes the first core Latin female artist to secure a No. 1 on the Hot Latin Songs tally in over a year — since Karol herself led the list. Her first No. 1 arrived on May 12, 2018, with “Dame Tu Cosita,” a co-billed track with Pitbull and El Chombo, featuring Cutty Ranks. It topped the list for two weeks.

“The inclusion of Karol G helped the track,” Santa Cruz adds. “It was important to include a female artist in the song. This is a great time for female artists in the Latin rhythmic space as they are driving a lot of momentum and bringing a fresh sound.”

Prior to Karol G, the last time a core Latin female artist ranked at No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs was way back in early 2017, when Shakira’s “Chantaje,” featuringMaluma, wrapped up 10 nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on the February 11, 2017-dated list.

Since then, three women who traditionally have only charted with English-language recordings have claimed the crown: Selena Gomez and Cardi B (featured on DJ Snake‘s “Taki Taki,” alongside Ozuna; 13 nonconsecutive weeks starting October 13, 2018) and Beyoncé (featured on J Balvin and Willy William‘s “Mi Gente”; 10 consecutive weeks starting October 21, 2017).

Beyond “China’s” coronation on Hot Latin Songs, the tune also climbs to a new high on the Latin Digital Songs Sales and Latin Streaming Songs chart through an equal 2-1 boost.

On the all-genre Billboard Hot 100, “China” lifts 44-43.

J Balvin & Bad Bunny’s “Que Pretendes” Reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay Chart

It’s J Balvin’s quinceañera on the charts…

The 34-year-oldColombian reggaeton singerhas nabbed his 15th No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart with his collaboration with Bad Bunny, “Que Pretendes.”

J Balvin & Bad Bunny

J Balvin and Bad Bunny’s singerlifts 2-1 on the chart dated August 10.

It’s the first single off their collaborative eight-track album, Oasis (released June 28), advances with 13.8 million audience impressions (up 35%) earned in the week ending August 4, according to Nielsen Music.

J Balvin breaks away from a four-way tie with Carlos VivesShakira, and Wisin who have each claimed 14 No. 1s thus far. J Balvin now places as the act with the third-most leaders in the chart’s history which began in 1994. Bad Bunny, meanwhile, claims his sixth.

Beyond the “Que Pretendes” coronation, each act has nabbed two other No. 1s in 2019. J Balvin claimed his first No. 1 of the year when “Reggaeton” hit the top in its 13th week (chart dated April 6). His collaboration on Ozuna’s remix, “Baila Baila Baila,” alongside Daddy YankeeFarruko and Anuel AA, secured a spot atop the list just a little over a month after.

Bad Bunny’s “Soltera,” with Lunayand Daddy Yankee arrived at No. 1 on the July 13-dated tally (a two-week reign), while “Callaita,” with compatriot producer Tainy, landed at the summit last week (Aug. 3-dated list).

Sech Earns First No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs Chart with “Otro Trago,” Featuring Darell

Sech is a man on top (of the charts)…

The 25-year-old Panamanian singer has earned his first No. 1 on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart dated August 10, as “Otro Trago” featuring Darell, pushes 5-1 in its 14th frame.

Sech

The track gets a big boost thanks in part to a new remix of the cut, which dropped on July 25, that features — in addition to Darell — Nicky JamOzuna and Anuel AA.

“I’m extremely happy for the support,” Sech tells Billboard of his first No. 1. “I’m grateful to God, to Rich Music. There hasn’t been a Panamanian top a chart in a while, and I’m extremely proud and happy.”

The last Panamanian to top the Hot Latin Songs chart was El Chombowho scored his first No. 1 when “Dame Tu Cosita,” the remix alongside Pitbull and Karol G, featuring Cutty Ranks, landed atop the list over a year ago (May 12, 2018).

“Otro Trago,” which was written by Sech, Darell, Dímelo Flow and Joshua Méndezand produced by Dímelo Flow, also climbs 5-1 on Latin Streaming Songs, and debuts on the all-genre Streaming Songs chart at No. 22 with 15.9 million streams in the week ending August 1 (up 70%), according to Nielsen Music.

The song also sold 6,000 downloads (up 431%), pushing it 7-1 on Latin Digital Song Sales and enabling its debut at No. 30 on the overall Digital Song Sales list.

Radio play, meanwhile, advances with a 9-3 leap on Latin Airplay thanks to a 30% surge in audience impressions (to 12 million) earned in the week ending August 4.

As for Darell, he nabs his second No. 1 on Hot Latin Songs -which blends streaming data, digital sales and airplay. The Puerto Rican claimed his first leader in May 2018 when former No. 1 “Te Boté” (with Casper Mágico, Nio GarcíaNicky JamOzuna and Bad Bunny) arrived at the summit where it remained for 14 nonconsecutive weeks.

Anuel AA Appears in Foot Locker & Nike’s “We Live Sneakers” Campaign

Anuel AA is swooshin’ it up…

The Puerto Rican rapper and singerhas joined Foot Locker to recognize the history of Nike’s swoosh in a digital campaign called “We Live Sneakers.”

Anuel AA

Anuel’s look is very sporty. In fact, sneakers are his biggest passion, especially if he finds a nice red pair.

“I am very excited of being part of this campaign,” Anuel AA tells Billboard. “This is huge for me, another accomplished milestone. I couldn’t ask for more, plus I’ve been a Nike fan in forever. This is something that I use every day.”

The campaign celebrates the launch of the Foot Locker, Inc. exclusive Evolution of the Swoosh footwear and apparel collection which will be available on August 10, followed by the “Swoosh Chain” and “Sunburst” packs on August 17 and August 31, respectively.
