A24 Releases Trailer for Jenna Ortega’s Horror Comedy “Death of a Unicorn”

A24 has released the first trailer for Death of a Unicorn, a zany horror comedy starring the 22-year-old Mexican American actress and Paul Rudd.

The film watches as a father (Rudd) and daughter (Ortega) accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where his billionaire boss (Richard E. Grant) seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties. Unfortunately, the unicorn has loved ones who are now out for blood.

Co-financed by A24 and Ley Line EntertainmentDeath of a Unicorn also stars Will Poulter, Téa Leoni, Anthony Carrigan, Sunita Mani, and Jessica Hynes.

The film’s score was penned by Halloween‘s John Carpenter with his son, Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies.

The 21-year-old Mexican American actress has wrapped work on A24’s dark comedy Death of a Unicorn, which co-stars Paul Rudd.

Filmed over the summer under a SAG-AFTRA interim agreement, Death of a Unicorn marks the directorial debut of Alex Scharfman, who also penned the script.

The film follows a father (Rudd) and daughter (Ortega) who accidentally hit and kill a unicorn while en route to a weekend retreat, where the former’s billionaire boss (Grant) seeks to exploit the creature’s miraculous curative properties.

A24 will globally distribute the film after co-financing alongside Ley Line Entertainment.

Halloween’s John Carpenter is composing music for the film alongside son Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies. Larry Fong is on board as Director of Photography, with Amy Williams as Production Designer, Avy Kaufman as Casting Director and Andrea Flesch as Costume Designer.

Netflix to Release Animated Comedy Series “Captain Fall,” Featuring Lesley-Ann Brandt, This Summer

Lesley-Ann Brandt is headed to sea… 

Captain Fall, featuring the 41-year-old part-Spanish South African actress as part of the voice cast, will set sail on Netflix in the near future.

Lesley-Ann BrandtIn addition to Brandt, best known for her work on Lucifer, the new animated comedy series from Jon Iver Helgaker and Jonas Torgersen also features voiceover work from Jason Ritter, Christopher Meloni and Anthony Carrigan (Barry).

It will premiere on the streamer on July 28.

The comedy follows a wet-behind-the-ears, yet good-hearted sea captain who unwittingly finds himself at the helm of a smuggling ship for a terrible international cartel who’s using him as a fall guy in case the authorities ever catch up to them. It marks the first animated comedy for Helgaker and Torgersen.

Netflix will drop 10 episodes of the series that was developed and executive produced by Helgaker, Torgersen and Joel Trussell. Netflix ordered the series in 2020.

The voiceover cast also includes Alejandro Edda (Narcos: Mexico), Adam Devine and Trond Fausa.

Wilson Cruz to Take Part in Classic “Superman” Radio Series Reenactments During Next Week’s ‘DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse’ Virtual Event

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican actor will take part in Warner Bros. and The Creative Coalition’s reenactments of the 1940s Superman radio series to take place during DC FanDome: Explore the Multiverse on September 12. The acclaimed original long-running radio serial originally aired from 1940 to 1951.

The reenactments of the Superman radio series will be available all day during the virtual confab and feature an all-star roster of actors toplined by Cruz, who stars on Star Trek: Discovery, Tim Daly and Daniel Dae Kim as the Man of Steel himself.

Using original scripts from the long-running radio serial recently unearthed from the Warner Bros. Studios vault, this rare production will allow fans to experience one of their favorite superheros in a unique way.
