E.J. Bonilla to Star in the NBC Drama Pilot “Getaway”

It’s getaway time for E.J. Bonilla

The 32-year-old Puerto Rican actor has been cast as a series regular in the NBC drama pilot Getaway, which hails from The Blacklist duo John Davis and John Fox and Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group.

Bonilla will star opposite Matt LongMarg Helgenberger, Jasmine Mathews and Annie Ilonzeh on the pilot.

Written and executive produced by JJ Bailey and Moira KirlandGetaway centers on a destination wedding at an isolated luxury resort that quickly descends into chaos after a group of dangerous criminals takes the island hostage. The small group of guests, led by a fearless female Army vet (Ilonzeh), will do everything they can to stay alive.

Bonilla will play Rafi Salinas. Rafi claims to be a fisherman on the run with his friends from a gang of cartel members, but he’s hiding a dark secret that will put everyone at the resort in danger.

Bonilla is a series regular on the upcoming FX on Hulu series The Old Manwhose Season 1 production is currently on hold while star Jeff Bridges undergoes cancer treatment. Bonilla will reportedly be able to fulfill his obligation to the FX series before he segues to Getaway should the pilot go to series.

Bonilla most recently appeared in Nat Geo’s miniseries The Long Road Home and was previously a series regular on the final season of A&E’s Unforgettable.

Adan Canto to Star in the Indie Spy Thriller “Agent Game”

It’s (agent) game on for Adan Canto 

The 39-year-old Mexican actor/director will star in Agent Game, an indie spy thriller being directed by Grant S. Johnson.

Canto joins a cast that includes Dermot Mulroney, Katie Cassidy, Rhys Coiro, Annie Ilonzeh, and Mel Gibson.

In the film, CIA officer Harris (Mulroney) is involved in missions to detain and relocate foreign nationals for interrogation. When Harris’ superior is murdered, he finds himself the scapegoat for the killing of a detainee and must run from a team of operatives sent to bring him in (Canto, Cassidy, Coiro), led by a ruthless double agent (Ilonzeh). Gibson plays a rogue intelligence official running the off-book operation to hunt down and kill Harris.

Tyler W. Konney is producing the film, which he co-wrote with Mike Langer.

Canto’s credits include Designated Survivor and X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Alberto Rosende to Appear on NBC’s “Chicago Fire”

Alberto Rosende’s on (Chicago) Fire… 

The 26-year-old Colombian and Cuban American actor has landed a recurring role on the upcoming eighth season of NBC’s Chicago Fire.

Rosende will portray Blake Gallo, a young firefighter who loves his job and joins Firehouse 51 as the Chicago Fire Department expands the number of firefighters on second shift. Casey (Jesse Spencer), Herrmann (David Eigenberg) and Severide (Taylor Kinney) — impressed with Gallo’s relentless energy — take him under their wings.

From executive producer Dick Wolf and co-creator Derek HaasChicago Fire looks into the lives of the firefighters, rescue squad and paramedics of Chicago Firehouse 51 who risk their lives week in and week out to save and protect the citizens of their city.

In addition to Spencer, Eigenberg and Kinney, the cast includes Eamonn WalkerKara KilmerMiranda Rae MayoAnnie IlonzehChristina StolteJoe Minoso and Yuri Sardarov.

Rosende is best known for his starring role as Simon Lewis on Shadowhunters, which aired for three seasons on Freeform. He’s currently the face of Old Spice’s new ad campaign entitled “Never Let a Friend Lose His Swagger.” 

Chicago Fire‘s Season 8 premieres on September 25 on NBC.
