Plaza’s “The To Do List” Opening Next Valentine’s Day

So what’s next on Aubrey Plaza to-do list? Opening her next motion picture next February.

The 27-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress/comedian—who recently picked up a Young Hollywood Award for her breakthrough performance in Safety Not Guaranteed—will be starring as a high school student working her way through the pains of social and sexual awkwardness in The To Do List.

The To Do List

In this first look at the 1990s-set comedy, it’s clear that both the film’s fashions and intended discomfort deliver a whole world of nostalgic pain.

The film, written and directed by Funny or Die‘s Maggie Carey, featured Plaza in rounded glasses and skorts as she sets off to figure out the world of sex, which to her dismay mostly consists of things that end with “job.”

Along with the Parks and Recreation star, the film stars several comedy stars, including Donald Glover, Andy Samberg and Bill Hader.

The To Do List will hit theaters on Valentine’s Day 2013.

Bratt Back for “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” Sequel

It looks like Benjamin Bratt will be heading back to the world of broadcasting…

The 48-year-old half-Peruvian American actor will be returning to lend his voice to the character of Manny the cameraman in the sequel to the animated film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs.

Along with Bratt, Sony Pictures Animation has reunited most of the original voicecast for the sequel, titled Cloudy 2: Revenge of the Leftovers.

Bill Hader and Anna Faris return as the two leads, inventor Flint Lockwood and weather girl Sam Sparks. Also back are James Caan as Flint’s dad, Andy Samberg as a local celebrity and Neil Patrick Harris.

New to the voicecast is The Expendables 2 star Terry Crews, who will play a cop in the town of Swallow Falls. Will Forte, who had a role in the first movie, is back in a new role, that of Chester V, an inventor and idol of Lockwood’s who invites him to join others bright minds at a technology company.

According to the studio, Cloudy 2 picks up where the first movie left off, with Lockwood discovering that his evil machine, which turns water into food, “is still operating and now creating mutant food beasts. With the fate of humanity in his hands, Flint and his friends must embark on a dangerously delicious mission, battling hungry tacodiles, shrimpanzees, apple pie-thons, double bacon cheespiders and other food creatures to save the world… again!”

Cloudy 2 is set for release in 3D on February 7, 2014.

Diaz: A One Hit Wonder?

She may be one of Hollywood’s most bankable leading ladies… But Cameron Diaz could soon find herself labeled a “one hit wonder.”

The 39-year-old part Cuban American actress is attached to star in One Hit Wonders alongside Gwyneth Paltrow, Reese Witherspoon, Beyonce and Andy Samberg.

The musical comedy, a collaboration between Sony Pictures and Glee creator Ryan Murphy, will feature Diaz, Paltrow and Witherspoon as singers who each scored a top hit song in the 1990s before watching their careers go down the drain. In their quest to return to pop chart prominence, the ladies decide to join forces to form a super group.

In a seven-figure preemptive deal, Murphy is attached to direct, as well as write the script with his Glee cohorts Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan. Murphy will produce with Paltrow.

The project reportedly came out of a dinner Murphy had with Paltrow, Diaz and Witherspoon. They discussed doing a fun project together and toyed around with several ideas until they settled on One Hit Wonders.

While nothing is concrete yet, Sony Pictures and Murphy are working on overdrive to hammer out the deals with all attached to secure project.

Gomez Headed to Hotel Transylvania

Move over Miley! Selena Gomez will replace Miley Cryrus as Adam Sandler’s co-star in an upcoming animated vampire flick, after Cyrus backed out of the project.

The 19-year-old half-Mexican American actress/singer will star as Mavis, Dracula’s teenage daughter in Hotel Transylvania.

The animated film will feature Sandler voicing the lead role of Dracula, who runs a resort of all the creepy folks in the world and gets worried when his teen daughter falls for a boy.

Saturday Night Live star Andy Samberg, singer and The Voice coach/mentor Cee Lo Green and actor Kevin James also have reportedly sunk their teeth into roles in the film, which is expected to hit theaters in September.

No word on why Cyrus, would’ve played Mavis, backed out of the role. But the film’s producers were quick to replace her with Gomez.
