Fox Renews Beatriz’s “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” for a Second Season

It looks like Stephanie Beatriz will protect and serve for another season…

Fox has given an early renewal to its Golden Globe-winning freshman comedy series Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which stars the Colombian-Bolivian-Spanish American actress and former Saturday Night Live cast member Andy Samberg.

Beatriz portrays Detective Rosa Diaz on the sitcom, which has been picked up for a complete second season.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine, which earned the Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy earlier this year, is set in the fictional 99th Precinct of the New York City Police Department in Brooklyn. Her character is described as a smart, tough, and mysterious detective with anger management issues, which leads to most of the precinct being scared of her.

The single-camera series follows a precinct team of detectives and a newly appointed captain.

In addition to Samberg and Beatriz, the series also stars former One Life to Live star Melissa Fumero as Detective Amy Santiago.

Beatriz’s previous credits include television appearances on The Closer, Modern Family and Southland.

The 49-year-old half-Peruvian American actor returns as Manny in Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2, the 3D animated film that saw it’s latest trailer released this week.

It’s not gigantic foods but living “foodimals” that plague the heroes of Sony’s sequel to 2009′s hit Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs.

Along with Bratt, who portrays Sam’s Guatemalan cameraman and a former doctor, co-pilot, and comedian, the film’s voice cast includes Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Neil Patrick Harris, Terry Crews, Will Forte, Andy Samberg, Kristen Schaal and James Caan.

Phil Lord and Chris Miller wrote and directed the first pic, a $243M global smash, before passing the reins to new helmers Cody Cameron and Kris Pearn.

Kid Cudi Lands Guest-Starring Role on Fox’s New Comedy “Brooklyn Nine-Nine”

The 29-year-old hip-hop artist and actor has landed a guest-starring role on Fox’s freshman upcoming comedy Brooklyn Nine-Nine, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The comedy from Parks and Recreation duo Mike Schur and Dan Goor centers on a diverse group of detectives at a New York precinct.

Cudi will portray Dustin Whitman, an ex-con that Jake (Andy Samberg) is convinced robbed a jewelry store. He’s slated to appear in the third episode of the season.

Producers noted during their time at the Television Critics Association‘s recent summer press tour that Brooklyn lends itself to high-profile comedy guest stars, with Cudi becoming the latest to nab a role on the buzzy series. Saturday Night Live alum Fred Armisen appears briefly in the pilot.

Cudi’s small-screen credits include a starring role on HBO’s How to Make It in America and a guest voice role on The Cleveland Show.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine premieres September 17 on Fox.

Sony Pictures has released the trailer for Cloudy with a Chance Of Meatballs 2, which features the return of the 49-year-old half-Peruvian American actor as Manny.

The sequel to the 2009 animated film, which grossed $243 million globally, also stars Bill Hader, Anna Faris, Neil Patrick Harris, Terry Crews, Will Forte, Andy Samberg and James Caan as part of the voice cast.

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs 2 is set to open in theaters nationwide on September 27.

Meanwhile, Bratt is voicing the villain in the just-released Despicable Me 2.

CBS Films has upped the domestic release date for the 28-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress’ next movie The To-Do List some three weeks earlier.

Plaza’s comedy, which centers on an awkward overachiever who tries to make up for her sexual underachieving in high school before she heads to college, has been moved up from August 16 to July 26.

Instead of facing off against Universal’s action-comedy sequel Kick-Ass 2, it will now serve as counterprogramming to Fox’s highly anticipated film The Wolverine.

Along with Plaza, writer-director Maggie Carey’s film also stars Johnny Simmons, Bill Hader, Alia Shawkat, Rachel Bilson, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Andy Samberg and Connie Britton.

Salma Hayek is all grown up… again!

The 46-year-old Mexican actress is reprising her role as Roxanne Chase-Feder in this summer’s Grown Ups 2, the sequel to the 2010 Adam Sandler-starrer that earned more than $160 million domestically.

The first film centered on a group of old high school friends who reunite for the Fourth of July weekend; the sequel sees Sandler’s character relocate his family back to the small town where he and his friends grew up.

And from the just-released trailer for the sequel – which also stars Kevin James, Chris Rock, David Spade, Maya Rudolph and Maria Bello, as well as newcomers Taylor Lautner and Andy Samberg – Hayek and the gang will be bring the funny!

Grown Ups 2 is set for release domestically by Sony Pictures on July 12.

The Latina actress has been cast in Fox’s still-untitled police comedy pilot starring former Saturday Night Live star Andy Samberg and former One Life to Live alum Melissa Fumero.

Beatriz, who most recently guest-starred as Sofia Vergara‘s hermana on ABC’s Modern Family, will play Meghan, a sexy and frightening police officer who is tough, opinionated and unpredictable and scares the bejesus out of the other police officers just as much as she does the criminals she detains.

Samberg will play the station’s top, with Fumero recently landing the co-starring role of Amy, a smart cop and former middle-school teacher. Newsroom‘s Terry Crews also co-stars.

Beatriz’s credits include The Closer and the ABC comedy pilot The Smart One last season.

Melissa Fumero is joining Samberg’s force

The 30-year-old Cuban-American actress has been named the female lead in Fox’s untitled Mike Schur and Dan Goor comedy pilot, starring former Saturday Night Live star Andy Samberg.

The comedy pilot centers on a diverse group of detectives in a precinct at the edge of New York City.

Fumero, best known for for her role as Adriana Cramer on One Life to Live, will portray Amy, an attractive and smart police detective who was raised in the outskirts of Manhattan. Before joining the force, she was a middle-school teacher. When it comes to dating, she doesn’t date fellow police officers, even though there are a ton of prospects in the line of fire.

Along with her One Life to Live stint, Fumero’s credits include appearances on Gossip Girl, The Mentalist and CSI: New York.

She’s married to her former OLTL co-star David Fumero, who portrayed Cristian Vega on the soap opera.

It appears Christina Aguilera and Shakira aren’t the only capable Latina The Voice coaches…

During Adam Levine’s monologue while hosting Saturday Night Live this weekend, the Maroon 5 frontman and The Voice coach parodied the NBC reality singing competition with help from Cameron Diaz, Andy Samberg and Jerry Seinfeld.

Levine found himself on the other side of the red leather chair when the 40-year-old half-Cuban American actress and the other guests played coaches from The Voice, with each wanting to mentor the first-time host in the art of comedy.

Diaz — dressed a la Aguilera, complete with a funky hat —  pitched why she should be Levine’s mentor, touting her success in comedy blockbusters like There’s Something About Mary.

“If you want to succeed in comedy, you have to check your pride at the door.” she said. “You have to be able to take a handful of Ben Stiller’s spooge and stick it right in your hair.” Samberg agreed and said he’d also done this.

Columbia Pictures has released a new trailer for Hotel Transylvania, the 3D computer-animated comedy featuring the voice of the 20-year-old Mexican American actress/singer.

Shining a bright spotlight on Gomez’s and Adam Sandler’s characters, the clip shows the former Wizards of Waverly Place star’s character celebrating her 118th birthday in her locked-up room.

For a birthday present, she begs her dad Dracula (Sandler) to allow her explore the world outside their hidden castle. Mavis whines and moans to her overprotective dad until she doesn’t realize that her fangtastic dad actually says yes. Finally realizing she’s been granted permission, she spontaneously jumps into the air and hugs her dad.

Hotel Transylvania

Hotel Transylvania is Dracula’s lavish five-stake resort, where monsters and their families can live without having to deal with the human world. Overprotective of his daughter, the Prince of Darkness fabricates tales of elaborate dangers to discourage her adventurous spirit. As a haven for Mavis, he opens the hotel, where his daughter and some of the world’s most famous monsters can kick back in safety and peace. For Dracula, catering to his ghoulish guests isn’t a problem – but his world could implode when an ordinary guy stumbles on the hotel and takes a shine to Mavis.

Along with Gomez and Sandler, the voice cast includes Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Fran Drescher and Cee-Lo Green.

Hotel Transylvania will open in theaters across the U.S. on September 28.
