Saldaña Joins the Voice Cast of Guillermo del Toro’s Animated Film “Book of Life”

Zoë Saldaña will be sharing the Book of Life with moviegoers…

The 35-year-old Dominican and Cuban American actress has joined the voice cast of 20th Century Fox Animation‘s Book of Life, which is being produced by Guillermo del Toro and directed by Mexican animator and filmmaker Jorge R. Gutierrez.

Originally titled Day of the Dead, after the famous Mexican celebration, the movie’s title is now Book of Life.

Guiterrez’s credits include Nickelodeon‘s award-winning animated television series El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera.

Along with Saldaña, the voice cast includes Channing Tatum, Diego Luna, Christina Applegate, Ice Cube, Kate del Castillo and Ron Perlman, along with Cheech Marin, Hector Elizondo, Placido Domingo, Ana de la Reguera (Nacho Libre, Eastbound and Down), Eugenio Derbez (Instructions Not Included), comedian Gabriel Iglesias (Stand-up Revolution) and Danny Trejo.

Fox will open the film in October 2014.

de la Reguera to Star in ABC’s “Big Thunder” Drama Pilot

Ana de la Reguera has landed a rollercoaster role… of sorts!

The 35-year-old Mexican actress has been cast in ABC’s drama pilot Big Thunder, which is based on the popular rollercoaster at Disneyland.

Directed by Rob Bowman and written by Jason Fuchs, the project centers on a brilliant, late 19th century New York doctor. He and his family are given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to relocate to a frontier mining town run by a powerful, but mysterious tycoon. But the family quickly realizes that not everything in Big Thunder is as it appears.

de la Reguera will portray Selena Morales, a strong, independent, no nonsense woman who lives by her own moral code that’s been shaped by the very hard life she’s lived.

de la Reguera, whose film credits include Nacho Libre and Cowboys & Aliens, most recently appeared on television in Royal  Pains and Eastbound & Down.

She’ll next appear in Lionsgate’s Ghosts, which was previously called Jessabelle.

de la Reguera to Carry the Olympic Torch

She may not be an Olympic athlete, but Ana de la Reguera will still be taking part in the events leading up to the 2012 Summer Games in London.

The 35-year-old Mexican actress and former telenovela star has been selected by her home country to help carry the Olympic torch for her humanitarian efforts.

“Mexican top international actress which founded the VeracruzAna Foundation that helps the community of Antigua Veracruz and its surroundings,” says de la Reguera’s nomination form. “After natural disasters VeracruzAna Foundation helped re-build the entire community, homes and streets.”

de la Reguera, who was recently cast in the Lionsgate horror film Jessabelle, will represent Mexico at the special ceremony, which will take place before the Games kick off on July 27. Even though she won’t be carrying the torch a long distance, de la Reguera is extremely excited about the honor.

“In July I will run and carry the torch a few meters,” de la Reguera told People en Español. “I’ll be in London for at least 15 days or less, also traveling a bit to learn about the Olympic experience, which is amazing.”

de la Reguera Cast in Horror Film

It’s about time for Ana de la Reguera to work on perfecting her scream face…

The 35-year-old Mexican actress and spokesmodel has been cast in the Lionsgate horror film Jessabelle, staring Sarah Snook and Mark Webber.

The film centers on Snook’s character Jessie, who returns to her father’s home in Louisiana after an accident robs her of the use of her legs. Once there, she must confront an enraged ghost.

de la Reguera—who has starred on HBO’s Eastbound & Down, as well as in the films Nacho Libre and Cowboys & Aliens— will play a physical therapist in the film, which began production earlier this month.

Anahí: Mexico’s Most Influential Social Media Celebrity

All hail the queen of all social media south of the border: Anahí.

The 28-year-old Mexican singer & actress has been named Mexico’s most influential personality and the most influential female artist at this year’s first ever Social Media Awards.

“I know that this was about voting and voting again, and I know my fans has a lot to do with me winning and I appreciate them so much,” said the former member of Mexican group RBD who was recently named an ambassador of peace for Yoko Ono’s anti-violence organization.

Anahí, who has more than two million followers on Twitter, beat out actress Ana de la Reguera, presenter Galilea Montijo and journalists Carmen Aristegui and Adela Micha for title.

Meanwhile, Mexican singer/actor Jaime Camil was recognized as the most influential male artist.

The Social Media Awards were organized by the Mexican company Red10, as part of the the Social Media Fest, attended by actor and social media advocate Ashton Kutcher.

Awards were handed out in 15 categories related to entertainment, sports, politics, finance, technology and more.

de la Reguera’s “Gateway” to Hollywood Leading Lady Status…

Ana de la Reguera is heading to the Wild West as she continues to forge a successful acting career in the United States.

The 34-year-old Mexican starlet has signed on to appear in the pilot for “Gateway,” TNT’s new post-Civil War era Western set in Colorado.

The project, being written by “Band of Brothers” scribe Bruce McKenne, centers around three brothers who take over justice in their town after their sheriff father is murdered.

The Veracruz, Mexico-born de la Reguera will play Lola Johnson, the co-owner of the town’s saloon. Her character is described as a beautiful, practical, energetic and vivacious woman who’s life gets turned upside down when she gets caught up in a love triangle between two of the brothers, played by actors Cam Gigandet y Keir O’Donnell.

Recently, the former telenovela star has appeared in the second season of HBO’s “Eastbound & Down,” as well as the summer blockbuster “Cowboys & Aliens.” She’s also served as a spokesperson for Cover Girl cosmetics.
