Salazar Signs Talent Holding Deal with ABC/ABC Studios

The Canadian-born Latina actress has signed a talent holding deal with ABC and ABC Studios targeted for television’s next pilot season.

Last season, the American Horror Story alum had a talent deal at Fox, where she co-starred in the drama pilot Boomerang and guest starred on the network’s freshman comedy Ben & Kate.

The previous season, Salazar co-starred in another Fox pilot, comedy Little Brother.

Additionally, she had an important recurring role as Zoe on NBC’s Parenthood and VH1′s Stevie TV. She regularly appears in College Humor originals and guest stars on HBO’s upcoming comedy series Hello Ladies.

On the feature side, Salazar just wrapped a supporting role in Universal’s Search Party and a starring turn in the indie May The Best Man Win.

Salazar to Star in Fox’s “Boomerang” Drama Pilot

The Canadian-born Latina actress has landed a role in Fox’s drama pilot Boomerang.

The project centers on the Hamiltons, consisting of parents (Anthony LaPaglia and Felicity Huffman) and grownup sons (Michael Stahl-David and Patrick Heusinger), who serve as assassins for the federal government.

Salazar will portray Olive, the ex-girlfriend who Sam (Stahl-David) has never forgotten.

The casting stems from the talent deal Salazar signed with Fox following her co-starring role on the network’s comedy pilot Little Brother last year.

She recently guest starred on Fox’s Ben & Kate. Her other credits include NBC’s Parenthood and FX’s American Horror Story.

Arteta to Direct Bravo’s “Rita” Drama Pilot

Following his success at the helm of the CW‘s The Carrie Diaries pilot, The 48-year-old Puerto Rican filmmaker has been tapped to direct Bravo’s hour-long pilot Rita.

The family drama, starring Anna Gunn, Colin Salmon and Robbie Kay, centers on Rita (Gunn), a sharp, candid private-school teacher who struggles to raise her three teenage children while dealing with the absurd bureaucracy and domineering parents at her school.

The project was written by Krista Vernoff.

Arteta is best known for directing the indie film Chuck & Buck, which earned him the Independent Spirit Award’s John Cassavetes Award. His resume includes directing television projects like Homicide: Life on the Street, The Office, Ugly Betty and American Horror Story.

Ruivivar Lands Recurring Role on TNT’s “Southland”

The 42-year-old part-Spanish actor has landed a major recurring role on the fifth season of TNT’s cop drama series Southland.

Ruivivar – best known for his role as a paramedic in NBC’s long-running series Third Watch – has been cast in a season-long arc as Lucero, a veteran Los Angeles police officer and a Mexican American born and raised in East Los Angeles.

Ruivivar’s recent television credits include appearances on Burn Notice, American Horror Story, Criminal Minds and Lie to Me.

Vergara Receives Her Third Straight Golden Globe Nomination

The third time could turn out to be the charm for Sofia Vergara

During a special announcement ceremony this morning co-hosted by Jessica Alba, the 40-year-old Colombian actress received yet another Golden Globe nomination from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA).

It’s Vergara’s third consecutive Golden Globe nomination in the Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role in a Series, Mini-Series or Motion Picture Made for Television for her role as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC’s Modern Family. She lost in 2011 to Glee’s Jane Lynch and to American Horror Story’s Jessica Lange in 2012.

Vergara – who picked up two SAG Award nominations earlier this week – will be competing against Nashville’s Hayden Panettiere, The Good Wife’s Archie Panjabi, Game Change’s Sarah Paulson and Downton Abbey’s Maggie Smith.

Meanwhile, Louis C.K. has earned the first Golden Globe nomination of his career, for his critically acclaimed role on FX’s Louie.

The 45-year-old half-Mexican actor is nominated in the Best Performance by an Actor In A Television Series — Comedy Or Musical category. He’ll face off against 30 Rock’s Alec Baldwin, House of LiesDon Cheadle, EpisodesMatt LeBlanc and The Big Bang Theory’s Jim Parsons.

NBC will televise the 70th annual Globes awards show on January 13, with Amy Poehler and Tina Fey co-hosting the event.

García to Direct “We’re Just Married”

Rodrigo García is getting ready to tie the knot with his next feature film…

The 53-year-old Colombian-born television and film director has signed on to direct We’re Just Married.

Written by David Rabe, the film will star the scribe’s daughter, American Horror Story’s Lily Rabe.

“I’m ecstatic to be in the Rabe business with David and Lily,” said Garcia. “This script is a perfect portrait of a highly complicated, emotionally charged and painfully funny romantic triangle. And, like all of David Rabe’s works, it is a gift to writers and directors.”

García, the son of Colombian writer Gabriel García Márquez, most recently directed Albert Nobbs, which landed stars Glenn Close and Janet McTeer acting Academy Award nominations last year.

He’s also served as a director on HBO’s highly acclaimed dramas Carnivàle. In Treatment and Six Feet Under.

Should Salazar sign on the dotted line, she’d surely work on another pilot for Fox next season.

Salazar had recurring roles last season on NBC’s Parenthood, FX’s American Horror Story and VH1′s Stevie TV.

In addition, she just wrapped a supporting role in the indie film Jamesy Boy.

Consuelos Joining Cast of “American Horror Story”

Mark Consuelos will be sharing his horror story on television…

The 41-year-old Spanish-American actor has signed on to appear in the second season of FX’s American Horror Story.

Consuelos, best known for playing Mateo Santos on ABC’s All My Children, will portray a patient named Spivey on the show.

Consuelos joins Jessica Lange, James Cromwell, Joseph Fiennes, Sarah Paulson, Zachary Quinto, Adam Levine and Chloe Sevigny in the new season, which centers around an institution for the criminally insane.

Production on the second season of American Horror Story begins this week.

 

Rivera Wins NewNowNext Award

Vidal to Co-Star in BET’s “Being Mary Jane” Pilot

Lisa Vidal could be playing Gabrielle Union’s BFF on television in the near future…

The 46-year-old Puerto Rican American actress will co-star opposite Union in BET’s hour-long pilot Being Mary Jane, which was formerly called Single Black Female.

The project centers on Union’s character Mary Jane Paul, a successful talk show host looking to one day become the No.1 nightly news anchor while searching for Mr. Right.

Vidal—who most recently appeared in FX’s instahit series American Horror Story and last co-starred in NBC’s The Event—will play Kara, the lead producer for Mary Jane’s show and Mary Jane’s friend.
