Danny Ramirez to Star in AMC’s “Tales of the Walking Dead”

The 29-year-old Colombian and Mexican American actor has been cast in AMC’s Tales of the Walking Dead, the network’s new spinoff series set in The Walking Dead universe.

Danny RamirezHe’s among a roster of cast newcomers for the AMC Studios-produced episodic anthology series that includes Olivia Munn, Loan Chabanol, Embeth Davidtz, Jessie T. Usher and Gage Munroe.

Each of the six one-hour standalone episodes will focus on both new and established characters set in the world of the original series. It’s set to premiere this summer on AMC and AMC+.

The series will be executive produced by Scott M. Gimple, chief content officer of The Walking Dead Universe, and showrunner Channing Powell, writer-producer on The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead.

“Olivia, Danny, Loan, Embeth, Jessie and Gage are the latest massive talents that will bring new worlds of TWD to life with big, daring, different, emotional, shocking, scary, and crazy stories. We’re excited for them to come walk with us,” said Gimple.

“Somehow we have lucked into the greatest cast — Olivia, Jessie, Embeth, Danny, Loan, Gage… We’ve been hoping these episodes will feel like unique, little films and with this range of actors, we are well on our way,” added Powell.

Ramirez was most recently seen on television in the lead role of Joaquin Torres in The Falcon & The Winter Soldier. On the film side, he’ll next be seen in a starring role in Hulu suspense/thriller No Exit, produced by The Queens Gambit co-creator Scott Frank.

He also stars opposite Tom Cruise in Paramount’s upcoming Top Gun: Maverick and in Netflix’s Plus/Minus opposite Lili Reinhart.

He also just completed filming The Stars at Noon for director Clair Denis opposite Joe Alwyn and Margaret Qualley.

AMC Renews Colman Domingo’s “Fear the Walking Dead” for Eighth Season

AMC’s Fear the Walking Dead, starring the 52-year-old Guatemalan American actor, has been picked up for an eighth season.

Colman Domingo, Fear the Walking DeadThe network made the announcement on Sunday night on Talking Dead following the Season 7 fall finale of The Walking Dead spinoff.

Popular former cast member Kim Dickens, who played Madison Clark in Seasons 1 through 4 of Fear the Walking Dead, is set to return. She’ll make her first appearance in the second half of Season 7, which debuts April 17, and will continue as a series regular in Season 8.

“If there were a Mt. Deadmore, Kim Dickens’ face would be on it. Madison Clark is a foundational character to TWDU — heroic, complex, an everyperson who becomes a warrior and then a force of benevolence,” said Scott M. Gimple, Chief Content Officer of The Walking Dead Universe. “Kim Dickens’ raw talent, strength, and brilliance will electrify TWDU once more and we couldn’t be luckier to have her back.”

Fear the Walking Dead will join AMC’s biggest lineup of original programming ever in 2022, which also includes the final season of mothership The Walking Dead.

In the second half of Season 7, months have passed after the nuclear blast and the only one thriving is Victor Strand (Domingo). Having built a fiefdom, he callously selects who will have a chance at life. The other members of the group have suffered immensely, but out of that, has come a fierce determination to live, even if it means taking Strand’s Tower by force and continuing the search for Padre, a mythical place no one is sure really exists. Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey,) now the reluctant leader to Teddy’s former followers, is plagued by a mysterious illness and the repercussions of her past actions. Morgan (Lennie James,) trying to maintain hope that he will be reunited with his family, knows Alicia is key to their survival. With Alicia declaring war, Strand’s paranoia and personal vendettas grow, and with that, new threats emerge from all sides.

Fear the Walking Dead is executive produced by Scott M. Gimple, Showrunners Andrew Chambliss and Ian Goldberg, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, Greg Nicotero and David Alpert and is produced by AMC Studios.

Gissette Valentin to Appear on AMC’s “The Walking Dead: World Beyond”

The Latina actress has landed a recurring role on AMC’s The Walking Dead: World Beyond.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond delves into new TWD mythology to follow the first generation raised in a surviving civilization of the post-apocalyptic world. Two sisters along with two friends leave a place of safety and comfort to brave dangers on an important quest. Pursued by those who wish to protect them and those who wish to harm them, a tale of growing up and transformation unfurls across dangerous terrain, challenging everything they know about the world, themselves and each other.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond is co-created by Scott M. Gimple and showrunner Matt Negrete. Produced and distributed by AMC Studios, the series is executive produced by Gimple and Negrete, Robert Kirkman, Gale Anne Hurd, David Alpert and Brian Bockrath.

Valentin will play Corporal Diane Pierce, a smart, driven soldier who commands the respect of someone in a much higher position of authority.

The series’ cast features Julia Ormond, Nicholas Cantu, Alexa Mansour, Nico Tortorella, Aliya Royale, Hal Cumpston and Annet Mahendru.

Valentin will soon appear in Amazon’s The Tomorrow War, starring Chris Pratt. She has also appeared in Claws.

Krystina Alabado Joins Voice Cast of AMC’s Animated Drama Series “Pantheon”

The 31-year-old half-Mexican American actress, who stars as Gretchen Wieners in the Broadway music Mean Girls, has joined the voice cast of Pantheon, AMC’s first hour-long animated primetime drama series.

Alabado joins a voice cast that includes Daniel Dae Kim, Katie Chang, Ron Livingston, Chris Diamantopoulos, Raza Jaffrey, Scoot McNairy, Anika Noni Rose, Grey Griffin, SungWon Cho, Kevin Durand and Samuel Roukin.

They join previously announced Taylor Schilling, Paul Dano, Rosemarie DeWitt and Aaron Eckhart in the series, which hails from Craig Silverstein and AMC Studios.

Pantheon, which received a two-season order in March, is based on the short stories by Ken Liu about Uploaded Intelligence, or human consciousness uploaded to the cloud.

The innovative series’ visual style is described as a fresh take on graphic realism done in a traditional 2D way, using modern tools.

“Ken’s engaging and thought-provoking short stories pave the way for a deeply gripping series, and I couldn’t ask for a greater group of talented voices to bring these complex characters to life,” said Silverstein.

In its first season, Pantheon focuses on Maddie (Chang), a bullied teen who receives mysterious help from someone online. The stranger is soon revealed to be her recently deceased father, David (Kim), whose consciousness has been uploaded to the Cloud following an experimental destructive brain scan. David is the first of a new kind of being: an “Uploaded Intelligence” or “UI,” but he will not be the last, as a global conspiracy unfolds that threatens to trigger a new kind of world war.

Alabado will voice the character of Hannah.

In addition to starring in the Mean Girls musical, Alabado appeared on television in Tyrant and God Friended Me.

Colman Domingo Signs First-Look Deal with AMC Studios

It’s a new deal for Colman Domingo…

The 50-year-old Guatemalan American actor, playwright and television/stage director has signed a first-look deal with AMC Studios, the studio behind Domingo’s zombie drama series Fear the Walking Dead.

Domingo made his debut as Victor Strand in a two-episode guest arc during the first season of Fear the Walking Dead, a spinoff from The Walking Dead.

He was made a series regular at the start of Season 2. He made his directorial debut on the show and has directed two episodes to date.

“From the moment AMC viewers first saw Colman Domingo as the mysterious and dynamic Victor Strand in season one of Fear The Walking Dead,they haven’t been able to look away, and neither have we,” said Sarah Barnett, President of AMC Networks Entertainment Group & AMC Studios. “He has become a core character of the series and, as anyone who knows him knows, his talents go far beyond that one character in that one show. He is a writer, producer and performer who can move effortlessly between film, television and the stage and we are thrilled to be expanding our relationship with this extraordinary talent and individual through this first-look deal with AMC Studios.”

Domingo is currently in production on the upcoming sixth season of Fear the Walking Dead and stars in A24’s Zola, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. He’s also had a recurring role on HBO’s Euphoria and will be seen in Jordan Peele’s spiritual sequel to the 1992 gothic horror film CandyMan, as well as opposite Viola Davis and Chadwick Boseman in the Netflix film adaption of Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,produced by Denzel Washington.

Domingo, 20-year veteran theater director, co-wrote the book for the Broadway musical Summer: The Donna Summer Musical and for the Lights Out: Nat “King” Cole  musical.

At AMC, he developed a series based on his play Dottwo years ago.

Domingo’s film acting credits also include Barry Jenkins’ If Beale Street Could Talk, Selma, Lee Daniels’ The Butler,  Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln, First Match, and Spike Lee’s Miracle At St. Ana, Red Hook Summerand Passing Strange. 

Nicolas Cantu to Star in AMC’s New “The Walking Dead” Series

Nicolas Cantu is a Dead man walking…

The 15-year-old Latino actor has been cast in the upcoming third series in The Walking Dead franchise on ABC.

Cantu, who will portray Elton, will star opposite Nico Tortorella, Annet Mahendru(Huck) and Aliyah Royale(Iris)  Alexa Mansour(Hope) and Hal Cumpston(Silas) in the series.

The untitled third series will focus on the first generation to come of age in the apocalypse as we know it. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever.

Produced and distributed by AMC Studios, the series will premiere on AMC in spring 2020. Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct the series co-created by Scott Gimple and The Walking Dead veteran writer and producer Matt Negrete, who will serve as the series’ showrunner.Cantu’s previous credits include voice work on The Amazing World of Gumball and Sofia the  First,as well as appearances onRaven’s Home, The Good Place and Bizaardvark.

AMC Renews Blades’ “Fear the Walking Dead” for a Third Season

There’s more fear in Ruben Blades’ future…

Less than a week after its second season premiere, Fear the Walking Dead, starring the 67-year-old Panamanian actor/singer, has been picked up for a third season by AMC.

The 16-episode run of the Robert Kirkman and Dave Erickson created spinofff of blockbuster The Walking Dead will debut in 2017.

“What Dave Erickson and Robert Kirkman have invented in Fear The Walking Dead is to be applauded,” said Charlie Collier, president of AMC, SundanceTV and AMC Studios. “Watching Los Angeles crumble through the eyes of our characters and seeing each make decisions and try to figure out the rules of their new world – it’s fresh, eerie and compelling and we’re all in for the ride.”

Now on the high seas, FearTWD returned on April 10 for a 15-episode season two run basically even in Live + Same Day numbers with its October 4 S1 finale of last year.

While down 37% in the key 18-49 demo from the record-breaking cable highs of its August 23, 2015 Season 1 premiere FearTWD S2’s opener also declined 34% in total viewers from its very first show.

Despite those declines, the spinoff is still the second highest rated show on cable this season in the 18-49s – behind only TWD itself. On both broadcast and cable, FearTWD is the seventh highest rated show, including Sunday Night Football, this season so far.

In just released Live + 3 numbers, FearTWD’s S2 opener rose 32% in total viewers from its L+SD results to 8.8 million. Among adults 18-49, the Erickson written ‘Monster” episode was up 36% from L+SD to 5.3 million.

Campanella to Direct AMC’s “Halt & Catch Fire” Drama Pilot

Juan José Campanella’s career is catching fire…

The 53-year-old Argentine filmmaker will direct former Pushing Daisies star Lee Pace and Mackenzie Davis in AMC’s drama pilot Halt & Catch Fire from AMC Studios.

Set in the early 1980s, Halt & Catch Fire centers on the personal computing boom through the eyes of a visionary, an engineer and a prodigy whose innovations directly confront the corporate behemoths of the time. Their personal and professional partnership will be challenged by greed and ego while charting the changing culture in Texas’ Silicon Prairie.

Pace will portray the visionary, the confident and powerful Joe MacMillan. Once a superstar salesman at IBM, MacMillan recently departed under mysterious circumstances only to resurface at a Dallas tech company.

Davis will plays the prodigy, Cameron Howe, a talented but volatile computer programming graduate student whose aggressive exterior has everything to do with protecting a vulnerability underneath.

Campanella previously directed episodes of House: MD, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit and 30 Rock, as well as the award-winning Argentine miniseries El hombre de tu vida.
