Tenoch Huerta to Star in Amazon Studio’s Untitled Cortes/Moctezuma Series

The 39-year-old Mexican actor will star alongside Javier Bardem in the untitled Cortés and Moctezuma project from Amazon Studios and Amblin Television.

Yoshira Escárrega has also been cast in the project. 

The limited series will be a four-hour epic drama that maps the inexorable march and eventual clash between Spanish conquistador Hernán Cortésand Aztec Emperor Moctezuma II, leading to the annihilation of an empire and tragic downfall of a civilization that took centuries to build, but less than two years to destroy.

Oscarwinner Bardem was announced in the role of Cortés last year and will also serve as an executive producer on the project.

Huerta will play Moctezuma, the Emperor of the Aztecs. Escárrega will play Marina, strategic partner, translator and consort to Hernán Cortés.

From Amazon Studios and Amblin Television, the limited series is created for television and written by Academy Award-winner Steven Zaillian and based on the screenplay by Dalton Trumbo. The series is directed by Ciro Guerraand Cristina Gallego

Bardem will executive produce alongside Zaillian, Gael García BernalDiego Luna and more.

Huerta recently wrapped filming a starring role in the Blumhousefeature film, Borderline, the latest installment in the Purge franchise. He’s known for his role as the infamous Rafael Caro Quintero in Netflix’s Narcos: Mexico, opposite Diego Luna and Michael Pena. He also appeared in a key role in the Paul Weitz-directed Bel Canto, which starred Julianne Mooreand Ken Watanabe

Escárrega is a film and theater actress born in Mazatlán, Sinaloa and a graduate of Escuela Nacional de Arte Teatral. Her latest work in television includes notable roles in Aquí en la Tierra directed by Gael García Bernal for Fox Premium Latinoaméricaand Dani Who for Paramount Channel Latinoamérica. She recently worked in films with acclaimed directors Alonso Ruiz Palaciosand Ximena Montemayor

Vladimir Caamaño To Star in CBS’ Drama Series “Tommy”

The Dominican American comedian and actor has been added to cast of CBS’ upcoming drama Tommy as a series regular.

Tommy, from the Bull team of co-creator Paul Attanasio and producer Amblin Television, stars Edie Falco as Abigail “Tommy” Thomas, a former high-ranking NYPD officer who becomes the first female Chief of Police for Los Angeles. She uses her unflinching honesty and hardball tactics to navigate the social, political and national-security issues that converge with enforcing the law.

Caamaño plays an ebullient Dominican transplant from Tommy’s home city of New York, who becomes part of her security detail but also her off-the-shelf investigator as she solves crimes in pursuit of the truth.

The series-regular cast also includes Michael ChernusAdelaide ClemensRussell G. JonesThomas SadoskiOlivia Lucy Phillipand Joseph Lyle Taylor.

Caamaño previously wrote, produced and headlined his own semi-autobiographical comedy pilot for NBC, A Bronx Life.

His other credits include television appearances on Superstore, Marvel’s Runaways and Brooklyn Nine-Nine.

Michael Trevino to Star in the CW’s “Roswell” Reboot

The 33-year-old Mexican-American actor has landed a role in the CW’s untitled Roswell pilot that acts as a reboot of the cult sci-fi series.

Trevino joins a cast that includes Jeanine MasonNathan Parsons, Lily Cowles, Michael Vlamis, Tyler Blackburn and Heather Hemmens.

The project hails from Amblin Television, Bender Brown Prods, Warner Bros. TelevisionJulie Plec and Carina MacKenzie.

Trevino, who played Tyler Lockwood on the CW’s The Vampire Diaries for eight seasons, reunites with Plec on the Roswell reboot, which was written by The Originals scribe MacKenzie.

Plec, who is directing the pilot, co-created Vampire Diaries and its spinoff The Originals.

The reimagined Roswell — like the original WB/UPN series based on the Roswell High book series by Melinda Metz — has an immigration twist, reflecting the realities of its location in a state bordering Mexico. After reluctantly returning to her tourist-trap hometown, the daughter of undocumented immigrants discovers a shocking truth about her teenage crush who is now a police officer: He’s an alien who has kept his unearthly abilities hidden his entire life. She protects his secret as the two reconnect and begin to investigate his origins, but when a violent attack and long-standing government cover-up point to a greater alien presence on Earth, the politics of fear and hatred threaten to expose him and destroy their deepening romance.

Trevino will play Kyle Valenti, the popular son of the town sheriff who questions his carefree outlook on life after learning the terrifying truth of his family’s legacy.

Trevino will next star in the feature film Out of Control.

Valderrama to Star Opposite Meagan Good in Fox’s Drama Pilot “Minority Report”

The 35-year-old Colombian and Venezuelan American actor has been cast opposite Stark Sands and Meagan Good in Fox’s drama pilot Minority Report.

The project is a sequel to the Steven Spielberg-directed movie set 10 years after the end of Precrime in D.C.

One of the three Precogs, Dash (Sands), struggles to lead a “normal” human life but remains haunted by visions of the future when he meets a detective, Lara Vega (Good), who’s haunted by her past and just might help him find a purpose to his gift.

Valderrama, best nown for the role of Fez in the sitcom That ’70s Show, will play Will Blake, a new police detective at the precinct who fills in for Vega when she’s out on leave, and when Vega sizes him up, she decides she doesn’t like him.

The pilot, written/exec produced by Max Borenstein and directed by Mark Mylod, comes from 20th Century Fox Television, Paramount Television and Amblin Television.

This marks the latest drama turn for Valderrama. He’s also returning for Season 2 of El Rey Network’s From Dusk Til Dawn.

Ferrer to Star on CBS’ Summer Drama “Extant”

The 28-year-old part-Puerto Rican actress, the granddaughter of the late José Ferrer, the first Hispanic actor, to win an Academy Award, has landed a recurring role on CBS’ upcoming summer drama series Extant.

From Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television and CBS Television Studios, the serialized mystery thriller centers on Molly (portrayed by Halle Berry), an astronaut trying to reconnect with her family when she returns after a year in outer space. Her experiences lead to events that ultimately will change the course of human history.

Ferrer will portray Katie Sparks, the athletic, intelligent astronaut who is the daughter of ISEA Director Alvin Sparks (Michael O’Neill). Known for being a problem-solver and over-achiever, she is forced to make a terrifying decision when faced with unimaginable terror.

The series also stars Goran Visnjic and Grace Gummer.

Ferrer’s previous credits include Grey’s Anatomy, Abducted and Go for Sisters.

Soltillo Lands Lead Role in Fox’s Pilot “Red Band Society”

The 19-year-old half-Cuban American actor and singer-songwriter has landed a lead role on Fox’s pilot Red Band Society.

From Steven Spielberg‘s Amblin Television and ABC Studios, the coming-of-age drama project explores with dark humor the daily lives of a group of teenagers living in a hospital who become unlikely friends.

Soltillo, best known for playing Lucas in the 2011 film Prom, will portray Jordi Palacios, a very smart and resourceful young man who refuses to take “No” for an answer.

Soltillo starred in the Disney television series Corey and Lucas For The Win.

He sings the song We Could Be Anything on Prom’s 2011 soundtrack.

Denis to Star in Amblin Television’s Sci-Fi Project “The Visitors”

It appears that visiting hours are just getting underway for Catalina Denis

The Colombian actress has been cast in the television project The Visitors from Amblin Television.

The sci-fi series chronicles the race against time in man’s quest to defeat an unseen alien enemy out to destroy the world.

Denis will portray Dr. Maria Martinez, who tends to a John Doe in the hospital.

Her previous credits include Brick Mansions, The Assets and The Tunnel.

Spanish-Language Adaptation of “ER” Heading to Colombian TV

It’s ER time for the people of Colombia…

Warner Bros. International Television Production has announced the first Latin American format deal for the critically acclaimed series ER, which aired on NBC from September 19, 1994 to April 2, 2009.

RCN, Fox International Channels and TC have commissioned a local-language version for Colombia with a 60-episode order.

Colombia’s Resonant is producing the medical series, with plans to air the program this spring.

Originally produced in the U.S. by Constant c Productions and Amblin Television in association with Warner Bros. Television, the series ran for 15 seasons.

It’s the most Emmy-nominated series in history with 124 and notably helped kick-start the careers of George Clooney and Julianna Margulies.

“Even though ER is a fundamental American series, its characters and situations are so strong, moving and universal that will surely find a place in the hearts of Latin American audiences,” said Fernando Gaitan, RCN’s VP Content and Production. “We are eager to have it on our screen.”

CBS Releases Teaser Video for Martinez’s “Under the Dome”

CBS recently released a preview featurette for the network’s summer drama series Under The Dome, which stars the 28-year-old Cuban-American actress.

An adaptation of Stephen King’s novel produced by Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Television, the series is set in Chester’s Mill, a small New England town suddenly and inexplicably sealed off from the rest of the world by an enormous transparent dome.

Martinez, who has a recurring role on CSI: New York, will play Deputy Linda, a young, ambitious officer who is fiercely loyal to the town’s sheriff, a man who runs a tight ship in the town of Chester’s Mill.

The clip features interviews with King and the show’s cast as they open up about the show.

Under the Dome is set to premiere in June.

Martinez, who has a recurring role on CSI: New York, will play Deputy Linda, a young, ambitious deputy who’s is fiercely loyal to the town’s sheriff, a man who runs a tight ship in the town of Chester’s Mill.

CBS Television Studios will produce the drama, which was picked up straight to series, in association with Steven Spielberg‘s Amblin Television.

Martinez, who rose to acclaim as the spokesmodel for Jennifer Lopez’s JLO by Jennifer Lopez brand, has appeared in the films Death Race, The Baytown Outlaws and End of Watch. Her television credits include Fashion House, Sons of Tucson and Detroit 1-8-7.
