The 31-year-old Dominican American bachata singer has replaced himself at No. 1 on the Tropical Airplay chart.
On the October 24-dated survey, his latest single “Lotería” climbs 2-1, bumping his own “Carita de Inocente” down 1-2.
“Carita de Inocente” had earlier set the record for the most weeks at No. 1, and its total weeks atop the list now stand at 29.
“It feels great to have the top two Tropical Airplay songs in the country and I’m so thankful to everyone at radio and the fans who keep embracing my music and bachata,” Royce tells Billboard.
The last time an artist ranked first and second in the same chart week was Marc Anthony with “Lo Que Te Di” at No. 1 and “Parecen Viernes” at No. 2 (January 25-dated lists).
The last act, however, to replace himself at No. 1 was Nicky Jam in January 2018. Romeo Santos’ “Bella y Sensual,” which features Jam and Daddy Yankee, ceded its five-week reign to “Cásate Conmigo,” his collaboration with Silvestre Dangond (Jan. 27, 2018-dated list).

The tune helps the bachata singer-songwriter up his career No. 1 count to 19, extending his third-most record in the chart’s 26-year history. Royce stands just behind Marc Anthony with 32 No. 1s and Victor Manuelle with 28.)
“Lotería” is from Royce’s Alter Egoalbum, which debuted at No. 1 on the Top Latin Albums chart (dated February 22). The tune was produced by Royce alongside D’lesly “Dice” Lora and written by Royce, Lora, Yonathan “Mickey” Then and Ronald “Dae” López.

The 30-year-old Dominican American singer has earned his fifth No. 1 on Billboard’s Top Latin Albums chart dated February 22 as Alter Ego debuts at the summit.
The set earned 11,000 in equivalent album units in the week ending February 13, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. Of that sum, 8,000 were in album sales, while the bulk of the remainder was generated by streaming activity.
The double album consisting of the chapters Genesis and Enigma is the first set by a tropical music act to bow at No. 1 since Romeo Santos’ Utopíadebuted atop the tally nearly a year ago (April 20, 2019-dated chart.)
“I made this double album to give the fans a different musical journey,” Royce tells Billboard. “It feels great that people have embraced it, that it has debuted at No. 1.”
Royce’s sixth studio album, released via Sony Music Latin on February 7, got a sales boost in its first week thanks to eight in-store appearances the artist made during its release week in Florida, New York, Los Angeles, Illinois and Texas.
It’s the biggest sales week for a Latin album since Santos’ Utopía, which sold 9,000 units in its opening week (April, 20, 2019-dated chart).
Top Latin Albums ranks the most popular Latin albums of the week in the U.S. based on multi-metric consumption as measured in equivalent album units. Units comprise traditional album sales, track equivalent albums (TEA) and streaming equivalent albums (SEA).
Alter Egoregistered 3,000 SEA units, which equates to 4.8 million on-demand streams for the set’s tracks in its debut week.

HIs only charting album to miss the top was a greatest hits package titled #1’s, which peaked at No. 3 on December 8, 2012.
The new album was preceded by four songs on theHot Latin Songs chart, which blends airplay, streams and digital sales, starting with “El Clavo,” featuring Maluma (No. 13 high, September 2018), “Adicto,” with Marc Anthony(peaked at No. 33, December 2018), “Cúrame,” with Manuel Turizo (No. 31, July 2019) and “Morir Solo” (No. 35, October 2019).
“It also feels great that I will soon be performing these songs in more than 40 U.S. cities on my Alter Ego Tour,” the 30-year-old adds. “All of this happening 10 years into my career is a wonderful blessing.“

The 30-year-old Dominican American singer/songwriter will release his latest album Alter Ego on February 7. And, he’s already revealed the art cover and album concept.
“I’m playing a little bit with a duo alter ego concept, which is different,” Royce previously told Billboard about the album. But, he took to social media this week to announce that Alter Ego will be a double album with one side called Enigma – which is something with a hidden meaning or something difficult to understand or interpret — and the other called Génesis, the origin or beginning of something.
Alter Ego will be Prince Royce’s sixth studio album, launched before he heads out on a North American tour in March.
So far, he has released a few songs including “Morir Solo,” “Adicto” with Marc Anthony, and “Cúrame” with Manuel Turizo.
The 30-year-old Dominican American singer is planning to release a new album and go on tour in 2020.
Prince Royce’s new album is titled Alter Ego and is scheduled to be released in the first quarter of next year.
“I’m playing a little bit with a duo alter ego concept which is different,” he says. That’s why he is constantly exploring the idea of collaborating and recording in other genres, such as Regional Mexican, which he did recently, first with Gerardo Ortiz(Moneda) and later with Calibre 50 for a performance at the 2019 Latin Grammy Awards. “The idea is not to change who you are or change your sound, it is to bring your sound into that vision.”
Last month, Royce announced a new tour that includes 40 cities in the United States, the largest (so far) of his career.
“I’m doing the biggest tour — over 40 cities, it’s almost double the dates I did on my last tour and I’m really excited that I will visit places I’ve never been before,” he revealed. Also, the tour will celebrate the tenth anniversary of the release of his debut album, Prince Royce.
