The 34-year-old Nicaraguan American actress has signed with Innovative Artists for representation.
The actress, dancer, producer and humanitarian is best known for her breakout role in Netflix’s G.L.O.W.as Yolanda Rivas, a lady wrestler.
Most recently, she starred as First Officer Jensen Corbyt in Star Wars: Ahsokaopposite Rosario Dawson and in the series regular role of Gloria, a college-educated scam artist who discovered her love for conning people at a young age, in Greg Garcia’s Sprungfrom Prime Video alongside Garret Dillahunt and Martha Plimpton.
Her upcoming projects include a guest-starring role on HBO’s Hacksand a series regular role on Marvel’s Ironheartstarring Dominique Thorne and Anthony Ramos.
Her additional TV credits include Showtime’s Shameless, TNT’s Animal Kingdom, Netflix’s It’s Bruno!and OWN’s All Rise for Season 3.
Most recently, Barrera has been producing and creating projects of her own.
In addition to acting and producing, she is a global ambassador for the Nicaraguan Human Rights Alliance, helping immigrants coming from Central America and is also an ambassador for the non-profit, “Project SchoolHouse,” building permanent water structures in Nicaragua.
The 40-year-old Mexican American Broadway singer/actress has been cast as a series regular alongside Josh Andrés Rivera and Patrick Schwarzenegger in Ryan Murphy’s FX anthology American Sports Story.
American Sports Story, a new extension of Murphy’s “American Story” franchise, is a scripted anthological limited series focusing on a prominent event involving a sports figure and re-examines it through the prism of today’s world, telling that story from multiple perspectives.
The first installment, written by Stu Zicherman, is based on the podcastGladiator: Aaron Hernandez and Football Inc.from the Boston Globeand Wondery.
It charts the rise and fall of NFL superstar Aaron Hernandez, played by Rivera, and explores the connections of the disparate strands of his identity, his family, his career, his suicide, and their legacy in sports and American culture. Schwarzenegger portrays Hernandez’s friend, former college teammate and fellow former NFL star Tim Tebow.
Mendez plays Tanya Singleton, Aaron’s cousin and favorite relative who becomes his de-facto mother.
Mendez, a Tony Award winner for Carousel, is currently back on Broadway top-lining the praised revival of Stephen Sondheim’s Merrily We Rollalong opposite Daniel Radcliffe and Jonathan Groff.
She most recently was a series regular on the Warner Bros. series All Rise for CBS and then OWN.
The 26-year-old part-Latino actor has joined the Season 2 cast of Issa Rae’s Max series Rap Sh!tin a key recurring role.
Rap Sh!t follows two estranged high school friends from Miami, Shawna (Aida Osman) and Mia (KaMillion), who reunite to form a rap group. In their rise to fame, Shawna and Mia find themselves at a pivotal moment in their rap career as they are forced to decide if they will stay true to themselves or conform to the demands of the music industry.
Romero will play Lord AK, a notable musician/rapper from Los Angeles who is headlining a U.S. tour.
Rap Sh!t is created and executive produced by Rae for Hoorae. Syreeta Singleton serves as showrunner and executive produces alongside Dave Becky and Jonathan Berry for 3 Arts Entertainment and Jim Kleverweis.
Hip-hop duo Yung Miami and JT of City Girls serve as co-executive producers, along with Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas for Quality Control Films, and Sara Rastogi and Jax Clark for Hoorae Rae’s Audio Everywhere Company, Raedio, handles music supervision for the series.
Romero played AJ in OWN’s Greenleafand will next be seen in Netflix’s upcoming live-action pirate adventure series One Piece. His other TV credits include Grey’s Anatomy, All Riseand The Resident.
The Nicaraguan-American actress/dancer has joined the cast of Marvel Studios’ Ironheartas a series regular, according to Deadline.com.
The six-episode series created by Chinaka Hodge will star Dominique Thorne as Marvel character Riri Williams, a genius inventor and creator of the most advanced suit of armor since Iron Man.
The previously announced members of the cast include Anthony Ramos, Manny Montana, Alden Ehrenreich, Regan Aliyah, Shea Couleé and Zoe Terakes.
Sam Bailey and Angela Barnes are directing, with Ryan Coogler’s Proximity among the production entities.
Coogler, Ironheart head writer Chinaka Hodge, Zinzi Coogler, and Sev Ohanian serve as executive producers alongside Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso, Brad Winderbaum and Zoie Nagelhout.
Barrera can currently be seen as a series regular in the Freevee series Sprungopposite Garrett Dillahunt and Martha Plimpton. She also recently wrapped a recurring arc in OWN’s legal drama All Rise as part of the show’s third season.
She’s notably known for her portrayal of lady wrestler Yolanda in GLOW and Lulu in It’s Bruno, both for Netflix.
Her other TV credits include TNT’s Animal Kingdom, Showtime’s Shameless, and USA Network’sQueen of the South.
On the film side, she appeared in Daniela Garcia’s short film Huella, The Collectionopposite Alex Pettyfer, and The Knocking opposite Shiloh Fernandez.
Outside of acting, Barrera serves as a goodwill ambassador for organizations that specialize in humanitarian aid in Nicaragua.
Oprah Winfrey Network announced that courtroom drama series All Rise, featuring the 39-year-old half-Mexican American actress, singer and Broadway star, will return for a third season on Tuesday, June 7 at 8:00 pm ET/PT on OWN.
The All Rise season three all-star cast includes Simone Missick as ‘Judge Lola Carmichael,’ Wilson Bethel as Judge Carmichael’s best friend, Deputy District Attorney ‘Mark Callan,’ Jessica Camacho as public defender ‘Emily Lopez,’ J. Alex Brinson as bailiff-turned-public defender ‘Luke Watkins,’ Ruthie Ann Miles as Lola’s J.A. ‘Sherri Kansky,’ Mendez as court reporter ‘Sara Castillo,’ Lindsey Gort as defense attorney ‘Amy Quinn’ and Marg Helgenberger as ‘Judge Lisa Benner.’
Recurring cast also includes Samantha Marie Ware as law clerk Vanessa “Ness” Johnson, Paul McCrane as Judge Jonas Laski, and Suzanne Cryer as Deputy District Attorney Maggie Palmer.
All Rise is a courthouse drama that follows the chaotic, hopeful, and sometimes absurd lives of its judges, prosecutors, and public defenders, as they work with bailiffs, clerks, and police to get justice for the people of Los Angeles amidst a flawed legal system. Among them is ‘Judge Lola Carmichael’ (Missick), a highly regarded and impressive former deputy district attorney who has shown she doesn’t intend to sit back on the bench, but instead leans in, pushing the boundaries and challenging the expectations of what a judge can be.
Season three of the show picks up six months after the events of the sophomore finale and will bring about new beginnings for these judges, prosecutors and public defenders. We return on election night as Judge Carmichael (Missick) awaits the results of her campaign; Emily (Camacho) returns from Puerto Rico with renewed drive and purpose about her career and Luke (Brinson) continues to shake things up through his work in the public defender’s office.
Star Wilson Bethel will make his directorial debut on an upcoming episode of the show slated to air this summer. Bethel joins fellow actor McCrane (Judge Laski) in stepping behind the lens, as McCrane will again direct an episode following the previous four he helmed in prior seasons. Bethel and McCrane join the directorial lineup including showrunner and executive Dee Harris-Lawrence, executive producer Michael M. Robin, Marie Jamora (Queen Sugar), Lionel Coleman (NCIS: New Orleans), Rob Greenlea (Madam Secretary), Neema Barnette (Black Lightning), Mo McCrae (All Rise) and David Harp (All Rise). This season, Adrian Younge (Luke Cage) joins as Composer and Natalie Montgomery returns as the Music Supervisor.
All Rise is produced by Warner Bros. Television. The series was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series at both the 2021 NAACP Image Awards and the Black Reel Awards for Television in 2020.
The first two seasons of All Rise are available to stream on HBO Max and Hulu.
OWN: The Oprah Winfrey Network has closed a deal for a 20-episode third season of the Warner Bros Television-produced legal drama All Rise, starring the 38-year-old actress.
Streaming rights to the new episodes will be shared by WBTV sibling HBO Max and Hulu.
The bulk of the series’ cast, including Missick, Wilson Bethel, Camacho, J. Alex Brinson, Ruthie Ann Miles, Lindsay Mendez and Lindsey Gort, are set to return. Since the options on the actors had expired in June following the drama’s cancellation by CBS, they had to make new deals and all reportedly scored raises.
Not coming back is Marg Helgenberger, who in July was cast in NBC’s drama pilotGetaway. The door is reportedly open to Helgenberger and any other All Rise alums to appear on the new season subject to availability.
Dee Harris-Lawrence, who is also executive producer/showrunner on OWN/WBTV’s acclaimed series David Makes Man, is set to return as executive producer/showrunner of All Rise‘s third season.

Negotiations between OWN and Warner Bros Television started three months after All Rise was canceled by CBS and OWN parent Discovery days later announced its plans to merge with Warner Bros’ TV parent, AT&T-owned WarnerMedia.

Adam Rodriguez will be bringing a little heat to the holidays…
The 46-year-old Puerto Rican and Cuban American actor will star in one of two CBS holiday movies, “Christmas Proposal.”
Starring Rodriguez and Jessica Camacho, Christmas Takes Flightbegins when a handsome but frugal CEO takes over a family-owned regional airline and plans to cut their annual Christmas charity event; the original owner’s daughter, who is a pilot for the airline, rallies the community to save the event, and finds unexpected love in the process.
Both movies are produced by Motion Picture Corporation of America.
Rodriguez previously starred on the CSI: Miami, while Camacho most recently starred on All Rise.
The Latina actress has landed a recurring role in season 2 of CBS All Access’ original anthology series Why Women Kill.
She joins previously announced series regulars Allison Tolman, Nick Frost, Lana Parrilla, B.K. Cannon, Jordane Christie, Matthew Daddario and Veronica Falcón in the series that hails from Desperate Housewivescreator Marc Cherry, Imagine Television Studios and CBS Studios.
This season of the dark comedy features a new ensemble cast and storylines set in 1949 that will explore what it means to be beautiful, the hidden truth behind the facades people present to the world, the effects of being ignored and overlooked by society, and finally, the lengths one woman will go in order to finally belong.
Galindo plays Isabel, Rita’s (Parilla) maid with a bit of an edge, wry and pragmatic. She is well aware that Rita is not only having an affair with a younger man, but had hoped and believed that her elderly husband would be dead by now. On the surface, Isabel is the perfect maid, who helps with the garden party and other chores, but underneath it all she may understand Rita the best.
The series is produced by Imagine Television Studios and CBS Studios.
Galindo’s previous credits include The Binge, All Rise, Chicago Fireand Chicago PD.
The 45-year-old Mexican American actor has landed a recurring role on Roswell, New Mexico.
DeSantos will portray Edgar, a character described as “an enigmatic leader who intersects with Roswell’s heroes on a clandestine mission to better understand the unknown. Though he comes from an army background, Edgar has a wistful outlook on the universe. He believes that sometimes the best approach to an established problem is a fresh and creative perspective. Edgar will seek out those who align with his cause — but as a keeper of secrets he’ll expect loyalty and discretion, no matter the cost.”
DeSantos currently recurs on the CBS drama All Rise and TNT’s Animal Kingdom.
His other credits include The Rookie,NCIS: New Orleans, The Good Doctor and SEAL Team.
On the feature side, he can be seen in the indie Windows on the World alongside Luna Lauren Velez, Edwards James Olmos and Ryan Guzman.
Rosa Salazar is coming undone for a special preview…
The 34-year-old Latina actress is set to appear at the Paley Center for Media’s 13th annual PaleyFest Fall TV Previews.
The fest will take place on September 5-15 at the Paley Centerin Beverly Hills and feature new shows from the fall 2019 television season as well as returning favorites from broadcast, cable and streaming services.
As an added bonus, the Paley Center in New York will host free PaleyFest Fall TV Previews screenings on September 6-8.
The event will feature screenings of new shows like Salazar’s Amazon series Undone, which will have its special screening on Friday, September 6, 2019. Salazar will then participate in a conversation with fellow cast members Angelique Cabral and Constance Marie, as well as series creators and executive producers Kate Purdy & Raphael Bob-Waksberg, and director Hisko Hulsing.
Undone, an adult animated dramedy series, explores “the elastic nature of reality” through its central character, Alma (Salazar). After getting into a near fatal car accident, Alma discovers she has a new relationship with time and uses this ability to find out the truth about her father’s death.
But Salazar, Cabral and Constance Marie aren’t the only Hispanic talent scheduled to appear.
Jessica Camacho and Lindsay Mendez are scheduled to appear alongside their All Risecast mates on Thursday, September 12.
