Hulu Renews Alexis Bledel’s Drama Series “The Handmaid’s Tale” for Fifth Season

Alexis Bledel will have more tale to tell…

Hulu has renewed its flagship drama series The Handmaid’s Tale, starring the 39-year-old half-Argentinian American actress, for a fifth season.

Alexis Bledel, Hulu, The Handmaid’s Tale

The news, which Bledel and her cast mates shared on social media, comes ahead of its Season 4 premiere on the streamer.

Based on Margaret Atwood’s novel of the same name, The Handmaid’s Tale follows the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly part of the United States.

The series, produced by MGM Television and internationally distributed by MGM, stars Elisabeth Moss, Joseph Fiennes, Yvonne Strahovski, Samira Wiley, Bledel, Ann Dowd, Max Minghella, Madeline Brewer, O-T Fagbenle, Amanda Brugel, Bradley Whitford, and Sam Jaeger.

In season four, June (Moss) strikes back against Gilead as a fierce rebel leader, but the risks she takes bring unexpected and dangerous new challenges. Her quest for justice and revenge threatens to consume her and destroy her most cherished relationships.

The drama was nominated for 54 Primetime Emmy Awards over its first three seasons, winning 15, including best original drama, the first drama series win from a streaming service, lead actress in a drama series for Moss and outstanding guest actress in a drama series for Bledel.

Bledel has earned two additional Emmy nods for her performance on the series.

Alexis Bledel’s Netflix Mini-Series “Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life” Headed ‘Home’ to The CW

It’s an extra special homecoming for Alexis Bledel

The Gilmore Girls, starring the 39-year-old half-Argentinian American actress, is heading back to The CW after 20 years.

Alexis Bledel, Gilmore Girls, Lauren Graham

The network will air the four-part mini-series, which was ordered by Netflix and aired in 2016, as an event series starting on Monday November 23 and running through the week. It’ll air the series on its linear network and will also stream for free on its ad-supported app and online for 30 days.

The announcement comes on the 20th anniversary of the show’s launch on The WB.

The deal terms of the acquisition were worked out between Warner Bros., which produced the show in association with Dolly Parker Drank Here Productions, and Netflix, allowing The CW to have a window, according to Deadline.

It’s unusual for a Netflix original to be acquired by a linear network but The CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz was known to have wanted the Gilmore Girls sequel and has admitted that it was tough to have been outspent by the streamer. It also helps fill The CW’s schedule given that the network will not begin its regular 2020/21 primetime season until January.

Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life follows Bledel’s Rory, who has experienced some success in her journalism career, and Lauren Graham’s Lorelai, who still runs the Dragonfly Inn.

As Rory works through job-related struggles and Lorelai deals with some unresolved issues of her own, Emily Gilmore, played by Kelly Bishop, has been handling the loss of her husband, Richard. Emily is at a major crossroads in her life, recently widowed and trying to figure out what to do next. Richard’s death forces Emily and Lorelai to finally re-examine their own fraught relationship, and what the future holds for this mother and daughter.

Also returning were Rory’s best friend Lane Kim, played by Keiko Agena, who still plays in a band with her husband Zack, played by Todd Lowe, and is the mother of twin boys.  High school frenemy-turned-college roommate-turned-close friend Paris Geller, played by Liza Weil, also returns, and Rory’s most memorable ex-boyfriends – Logan (Matt Czuchry), Jess (Milo Ventimiglia) and Dean (Jared Padalecki) – also surface throughout the chapters.

The Dragonfly Inn’s resident head chef and co-owner, Sookie St. James, played by Melissa McCarthy, is also back along with the snooty-but-oh-so-lovable concierge Michel (Yanic Truesdale).

It was directed, written and executive produced by series creators Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino. The original ran for seven seasons on The WB and The CW with the sequel launching on Netflix in November 2016. Each episode of the sequel, which were between 88 and 102 minutes, follows the characters through one of the four seasons.

Hulu to Premiere Season 3 of Alexis Bledel’s “The Handmaid’s Tale” in June

It looks like Alexis Bledelwill have a lot to Talecome June…

Hulu has announced plans to premiere season three of the 37-year-old half-Argentinian American actress’s series The Handmaid’s Tale on Wednesday, June 5, with three new episodes, and subsequent installments released every Wednesday.

Alexis Bledel, Hulu, The Handmaid’s Tale

“We wanted to give the show as much time as possible to maintain the quality,” Hulu SVP of Originals Craig Erwichsaid about the decision to delay Handmaid’s Season 3 premiere. He added that he has seen the first two episodes of the upcoming season, and they are “spectacular”.

The 13-episode third season of the drama series will follow June’s resistance to the dystopian regime of Gilead and her struggle to strike back against overwhelming odds.

Viewers can expect to see startling reunions, betrayals, and a journey to the terrifying heart of Gilead that will force all characters to take a stand, guided by one defiant prayer: “Blessed be the fight.”

A new teaser trailer for Season 3 debuted during Super Bowl LIII, and painted a bleak, fire-filled picture of Gilead. The trailer was similar in tone to Ronald Reagan’s jarring 1984 “It’s Morning in America” presidential campaign ad.

The Handmaid’s Tale comes to Hulu from MGM Televisionand is created, executive produced and written by Bruce Miller.

In addition to Bledel, who won an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series for her role on the show before becoming a regular cast member in season two, The Handmaid’s Tale stars Elisabeth MossJoseph FiennesYvonne StrahovskiMadeline BrewerAnn DowdO-T FagbenleMax MinghellaSamira Wiley and Bradley Whitford.

Netflix to Premiere Bledel’s “Gilmore Girls” Revival in November

Alexis Bledel is ready for Girls time…

Netflix has set a post-Thanksgiving premiere for Gilmore GirlsA Day in the Life, starring the 34-year-old half-Argentinean American actress.

Alexis Bledel & Lauren Graham

All four 90-minute chapters will premiere globally on November 25

The revival picks up nine years after the original Gilmore Girls series, bringing back Bledel and her fellow co-stars Lauren Graham, Kelly Bishop, Scott Patterson, Melissa McCarthy and others.

Gilmore Girls creator/exec producer Amy Sherman-Palladino and her husband Daniel Palladino, a fellow Gilmore Girls executive producer, are writing and directing the telefilms, which are set in present day and unfold over a calendar year, each covering a different season.

Netflix Streaming Bledel’s “Gilmore Girls” Series Globally

Alexis Bledel is going global

Netflix has revealed plans to stream all seven seasons of the 34-year-old half-Argentinean American actress’ cult class series Gilmore Girls to subscribers globally on July 1.

Gilmore Girls

Bledel’s co-star and television mom Lauren Graham helped Netflix make the announcement via a special video.

The global streaming news comes ahead of the revival of the series, Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life, which will air its four parts sometime in the fall.

The news came via video from the Stars Hollow set of the restored series, which ran for 153 episodes from 2000-2007 on WB Network and the CW.

Bledel Joins Michelle Obama to Promote Let Girls Learn Initiative

It’s a special White House moment for Alexis Bledel

The 34-year-old half-Argentinean American actress appears in a video with First Lady Michelle Obama, which was posted on Twitter.

Alexis Bledel & Michelle Obama

It’s part of the ramp up to the return of Gilmore Girls later this year on Netflix.

Helping the First Lady promote her Let Girls Learn initiative, Bledel, in-character as Rory Gilmore, shows up to the White House to drop off a massive number of books for the initiative, treating the great classics of western literature like lazy beach reading and generally being adorably smart.

Naturally, the effort on behalf of a good cause also reminds people that Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life premieres on Netflix this fall.
