Jared Leto In Talks to Star in Ridley Scott’s Next Project “Gucci”

It looks like Jared Leto could be landing a fashionable new role…

Ridley Scott is reportedly in talks with the 48-year-old part-Spanish American Oscar-winning actor/singer to star in his next project, MGM’s Gucci.

Jared Leto

Leto forms part of Scott’s all-star cast wish list that includes Adam Driver, Al Pacino, Robert De Niro, Jack Huston and Reeve Carney

Lady Gaga is already attached to star as Patrizia Reggiani, the ex-wife of Maurizio Gucci, who was tried and convicted of orchestrating his assassination on the steps of his office in 1995. She served 18 years in jail before being let out in 2016.

Maurizio had two daughters with Reggiani, but he left her for another woman. She’d had a brain tumor removed, and her children blamed it for her actions; the media took a darker view of her during a sensationalized affair, depicting her as a hot-blooded woman scorned and dubbing her “Black Widow.” She was originally handed a sentence of 29 years.

It’s Gaga’s first starring role since her Best Actress Oscar nomination in 2018’s A Star Is Born. She won an Academy Award for writing the song “Shallow.”

MGM landed the rights to the film back in April with plans to go into production after Scott finishes shooting his current project The Last Duel.

Scott’s partner Giannina Scott long has been passionate about the cinematic prospects for a film about the tumultuous Gucci family’s fashion dynasty and the murder of the grandson of founder Guccio Gucci.

The Gucci murder tale is scripted by Roberto Bentivegna, based on Sara Gay Forden’s book The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed.

Leto, who won multiple awards, including an Oscar, for his role in Dallas Buyers Club, will next appear in Sony’s Morbius.

Del Toro to Portray Villain in “Star Wars: Episode VIII”

May the force be with Benicio Del Toro

The 48-year-old Puerto Rican actor has been in talks with Lucasfilm and has now been offered a role in Star Wars: Episode VIII as a new villain, according to Deadline.

Benicio del Toro

No details were released regarding the nature of the role, but other name actors are said to have also been considered.

Could this suggest possible spoilers for Star Wars: The Force Awakens? That film has three confirmed villains: Domhnall Gleeson’s General Hux, Gwendolyn Christie’s Captain Phasma, and Adam Driver’s Kylo Ren. That’s a fairly packed slate of heavyweights. The Del Toro casting news makes one wonder if one of that trio doesn’t make it to the end of the movie.

Directed by Looper and Brick helmer Rian Johnson, the still-untitled eighth installment of the new Star Wars trilogy is set for release May 26, 2017.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens hits theaters December 18.

Del Toro’s next film is Sicario for Lionsgate.

“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII,” Abrams said in a statement. “It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”

Disney and Lucasfilm did not reveal who the newcomers will be portraying in the film, but Driver and Boyega are reportedly playing the film’s villain, who will be in the vein of Darth Vader, and the lead, respectively.

Episode VII will take place 30 years after Return of the Jedi.

Star Wars: Episode VII is scheduled to open in theaters on December 18, 2015.

Isaac’s Singing Takes Center Stage in New “Inside Llewyn Davis” Featurette

Here’s another look at Oscar Isaac making sweet music…

The 33-year-old Guatemalan and Cuban American actor appears in yet another Inside Llewyn Davis featurette.

Oscar Isaac in Inside Llewyn Davis

The video offers a behind-the-scenes look at Isaac, Justin Timberlake and Adam Driver recording of one of the more popular songs in the film from Joel and Ethan Coen.

The film’s executive music producer T Bone Burnett chimes in about writing the lyrics and melody for “Please Mr. Kennedy” and sending it to the Coens for their opinion.

The song was recorded live in the studio — and wound up being the version included in the film about an early-’60s folk singer in Greenwich Village.

First Trailer Surfaces for Isaac’s “Inside Llewyn Davis”

Oscar Isaac will be back to making music on the big screen…

Following his role as a famous musician in 10 Years, the Guatemalan-born actor and singer is starring as a singer-songwriter looking for a break in the 1960s Greenwich Village folk scene in Joel and Ethan Coen‘s latest film Inside Llewyn Davis.

The first trailer for the film, which has yet to find a distributor, was recently released as part of an invitation to the film’s debut screening next month hosted by Nonesuch Records and T-Bone Burnett.

Burnett has re-teamed with the Coen brothers on the music for Llewyn after earning five Grammys for his work on the duo’s O Brother Where Art Thou?

Meanwhile, Isaac has reunited with his Drive co-star Carey Mulligan in the film, which also stars John Goodman, Garrett Hedlund, Justin Timberlake, F. Murray Abraham and Adam Driver and Alex Karpovsky of HBO’s Girls.
