Lifetime’s “Devious Maids,” Starring Ortiz, Headed for a Second Season Renewal?

It looks like Ana Ortiz and her Devious Maids co-stars will be back on maid duty next season…

The 42-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress’ new Lifetime sudser is expected to receive a second-season renewal from the network, according to sources, after experiencing continued growth since its debut in June.

Devious Maids

Devious Maids, from Marc Cherry and ABC Studios and executive-produced by Eva Longoria, reached series highs across all key demographics in its sixth episode on Sunday night.

After a lackluster premiere on June 23, the telenovela adaptation has steadily improved to become Lifetime’s fastest-growing drama to date.

Sunday’s episode drew a total of 2.9 million viewers in its inaugural broadcast.

Not only does that mark a new series high for the freshman drama, it’s a 45 percent increase from the series launch.

Devious Maids has continued to improve throughout July — not just in total viewers but across the network’s targeted demographics.

Growing a whopping 69 percent since the launch, Devious Maids took in 1.4 million adults 18-49.

The series grew the most among women in that age range, 74 percent, with a total of 1.1 million.

Along with Ortiz, the series stars Dania Ramírez, Roselyn Sánchez, Edy Ganem and Judy Reyes.

While the network hasn’t given a second-season renewal just yet, the writing is on the wall. Network brass spoke highly of its ratings growth during last week’s Television Critics Association summer press tour.
