RLJE Acquires North American Rights to Action Thriller “Muzzle,” Featuring Diego Tinoco

Diego Tinoco will help bring the thrill to American theaters…

RLJE has acquired the North American rights to Muzzle, an action thriller starring Aaron Eckhart and featuring the 25-year-old Mexican, Colombian and Ecuadorian American actor.

Diego TinocoDirected by John Stalberg Jr. and based on a script by Carlyle Eubank from a story by Eubank and Stalberg Jr., the film is set to debut in theaters and will be made available on all rental platforms on September 29.

RLJE is a business unit of AMC Networks.

Eckhart starsas LAPD K-9 officer Jake Rosser who has just witnessed the shocking murder of his dedicated partner by a mysterious assailant. Blocked by Internal Affairs, muzzled by his own superiors from finding the shooter’s identity, Jake resolves to go rogue and partners with “Socks”, a violent K-9. Together, the pair works to unravel a vast conspiracy.

The ensemble also includes Stephen Lang, On My Block star Tinoco, Penelope Mitchell and Kyle Smithson.

Bella Thorne Starring in Dark Comedy “The Trainer”

There are several train(er)ing days for Bella Thorne.

The 24-year-old half-Cuban America actress/singer has been cast in the dark comedy The Trainer, directed by Tony Kaye from a script by star Vito Schnabel and Jeff Solomon.

Thorne is part of a roster of new cast additions that includes Soo Joo Park, Brock O’Hurn, Laird Hamilton and Duke Nicholson.

The film currently in production, after nearly a decade in development, is based on an original story by Schnabel.

Unfolding over eight days of sleep-deprived chaos, it follows Jack (Schnabel), a down-on-his-luck fitness expert living with his mother in Los Angeles, who takes a maniacal swing at fame and fortune, trying to realize his version of the American dream.

Julia Fox, Steven Van Zandt, Taylour Paige, Stephen Dorff, John McEnroe, Gina Gershon and Luka Sabbat are also set to star.

Character details are being kept under wraps.

Thorne can currently be seen opposite Melissa Leo in Peyfa’s thriller Measure of Revenge, and will next be seen in Graham and Parker Phillips’ thriller Rumble Through the Dark, with Aaron Eckhart.

She’s previously appeared in the films Chick FightRideMidnight SunAssassination NationThe BabysitterAmityville: The AwakeningBoo! A Madea Halloween, The DUFFAlexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, and Blended.

George Lopez to Star in Dito Montiel’s Dramatic Thriller “Afterward”

The 59-year-old Mexican comedian/actor has joined the cast of Dito Montiel’s dramatic thriller Afterward.

The film centers on a father’s struggle to deal with the passing of his daughter, which leads him on a quest for truth and justice against corruption and small-town politics.

No word yet on what role Lopez will play in the film, but he joins an ensemble that includes Aaron Eckhart and Terrence Howard.

Lionsgate Grindhouse is distributing the film in North America., with Angel Oak Films backing the film and all pre-sold foreign rights.

Afterward will shoot this winter in California. Production was supposed to begin in the spring, but was delayed due to COVID-19.

Montiel made his feature directorial debut with 2006’s A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints. His other credits include Fighting, The Son of No One, Empire State, Boulevard, Man Down and The Clapper.

Lopez starred in ABC’s George Lopez, a situation comedy that ran from 2002 to 2007, as well as headlined the TBS talk show Lopez Tonight for two seasons. On screen, Lopez has starred in Meet the Blacks, River Runs Red, Gnome Alone and The Smurfs.

Lopez is best known for his comic work, but has been branching out of late into other genres. He recently appeared in The Tax Collector, a gritty thriller from David Ayer.

His upcoming projects for Lopez include No Man’s Land, an American western film, directed by Conor Allyn, and co-starring Frank Grillo and Andie MacDowell; as well as Walking With Herb, a comedy film helmed by Ross Marks, and toplined by Edward James Olmos and Kathleen Quinlan.

Krystina Alabado Joins Voice Cast of AMC’s Animated Drama Series “Pantheon”

The 31-year-old half-Mexican American actress, who stars as Gretchen Wieners in the Broadway music Mean Girls, has joined the voice cast of Pantheon, AMC’s first hour-long animated primetime drama series.

Alabado joins a voice cast that includes Daniel Dae Kim, Katie Chang, Ron Livingston, Chris Diamantopoulos, Raza Jaffrey, Scoot McNairy, Anika Noni Rose, Grey Griffin, SungWon Cho, Kevin Durand and Samuel Roukin.

They join previously announced Taylor Schilling, Paul Dano, Rosemarie DeWitt and Aaron Eckhart in the series, which hails from Craig Silverstein and AMC Studios.

Pantheon, which received a two-season order in March, is based on the short stories by Ken Liu about Uploaded Intelligence, or human consciousness uploaded to the cloud.

The innovative series’ visual style is described as a fresh take on graphic realism done in a traditional 2D way, using modern tools.

“Ken’s engaging and thought-provoking short stories pave the way for a deeply gripping series, and I couldn’t ask for a greater group of talented voices to bring these complex characters to life,” said Silverstein.

In its first season, Pantheon focuses on Maddie (Chang), a bullied teen who receives mysterious help from someone online. The stranger is soon revealed to be her recently deceased father, David (Kim), whose consciousness has been uploaded to the Cloud following an experimental destructive brain scan. David is the first of a new kind of being: an “Uploaded Intelligence” or “UI,” but he will not be the last, as a global conspiracy unfolds that threatens to trigger a new kind of world war.

Alabado will voice the character of Hannah.

In addition to starring in the Mean Girls musical, Alabado appeared on television in Tyrant and God Friended Me.

Raymond Cruz to Star in the Conspiracy Thriller “Wander”

Cruz will star opposite Heather GrahamAaron Eckhartand Katheryn Winnickin the film.

Written by Tim DoironWander follows Arthur Bretnik (Eckhart), a mentally unstable private investigator, who, after being hired to probe a suspicious death in the town of Wander, becomes convinced the case is linked to the same ‘conspiracy cover up’ that caused the death of his daughter. 

Graham is set to play Shelley Luscomb, an attorney and close friend of Arthur. Shelley has known Arthur long before his world unraveled and acts a voice of reason in his life.

Cruz, who played drug lord Tuco Salamanca in the AMC series and recently starred in Warner Bros.’ The Curse of La Llorna, plays Sheriff Luis Santiago, a character whose hardness and decisiveness has recently made way for philosophical musings. 

“Raymond carries such a grounded weight with him. His spirit is quietly mesmerizing,” said Mullen.

Production started last month and the feature will be shooting entirely in New Mexico.

Casciani to Star in the Vinnie Pazienza Biopic “Bleed For This”

The half-Brazilian actress has landed a role in director Ben Younger’s Vinnie Pazienza biopic Bleed For This.

Casciani will portray Heather, a love interest for boxing champ Pazienza (played by Miles Teller).

The cast also includes Katey Sagal, Aaron Eckhart and Ciaran Hands.

She has a recurring role on the CW’s Jane The Virgin, starring Gina Rodriguez.

Her credits include television appearances on Reckless, Murder In The First, CSI and Revenge.

Sandino Moreno Replacing Rosario Dawson in “Incarnate”

The 32-year-old Colombian actress will star opposite Aaron Eckhart in Incarnate, the new franchise hopeful from Jason Blum‘s Blumhouse Productions.

Rosario Dawson was initially cast to play the role, but the Sin City and Seven Pounds actress left the project due to scheduling reasons.

The film is set to begin production in November in Los Angeles.

Brad Peyton is directing the micro-budget film, which tells of “an unconventional exorcist — with the ability to tap into the subconscious of the possessed — who meets his match when a 9-year-old boy is possessed by a demon from his past,” according to Blumhouse.

Moreno broke into the industry with her acclaimed performance in 2004’s Maria Full of Grace, a role that earned her an Oscar nomination.

She most recently was one of the stars of FX’s crime show The Bridge and counts, among her feature credits, Steven Soderbergh’s two-part Che films.

Dawson In Negotiations to Star in the Horror Franchise “Incarnate”

The 34-year-old Puerto Rican and Afro-Cuban American actress and newest member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences is in talks to star opposite Aaron Eckhart in Incarnate, a potential new horror franchise from Jason Blum‘s Blumhouse Productions.

The microbugdet film, which tells of “an unconventional exorcist with the ability to tap into the subconscious of the possessed who meets his match when a 9-year-old boy is possessed by a demon from his past,” will be directed by Brad Peyton.

Information on Dawson’s character is being tightly guarded.

A November start in Los Angeles is being planned on the picture, which was written by Ronnie Christensen.

Dawson last starred opposite James McAvoy in Danny Boyle’s Trance and recently wrapped shooting on Robert Rodriguez’s Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.
