Camila Cabello Among This Year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards Winners

Camila Cabello has some extra heart…

This year’s iHeartRadio Music Awards have been announced on iHeartRadio stations and on the iHeartRadio app, with the 23-year-old Mexican & Cuban singer picking up an award.

Cabello and Shawn Mendes won the Best Collaboration award for their chart-topping single “Señorita.”

It’s the third iHeart Music Award of Cabello’s career. She previously won the Fangirls award in 2018, and Best Lyric for her single “Consequences” in 2019.

Banda Los Sebastianes earned two awards…

The Mexican band was named Best New Regional Mexican Artist and took home the Regional Mexican Song of the Year prize for their hit single “A Través Del Vaso.”

Bad Bunny’s X 100PRE was named Latin Album of the Year, Daddy Yankee & Katy Perry’s “Con Calma” earned the Latin Pop/Reggaeton Song of the Year, and the Regional Mexican Artist of the Year award went to

Christian Nodal.

Rosalia was named Best New Latin Pop/Reggaeton Artist, and Ozuna earned the Latin Pop/Reggaeton Artist of the Year prize.

The awards, honoring the most-played artists and songs on iHeartRadio stations and the iHeartRadio app throughout 2019, were originally set to take place on March 29 at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Usher was set to host the Fox broadcast, but COVID-19 restrictions thwarted that plan. On March 16, iHeart postponed the show. On Aug. 24, it canceled the event and announced the plan to reveal the winners over the Labor Day weekend.

The show is set to return to Fox in 2021.

The Labor Day rollout, in which winners in 50 categories were announced one per hour, featured acceptance speeches from many winners.

Banda Los Sebastianes Earns Third No. 1 on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay Chart with “En Eso No Quedamos”

Make that two in a row for Banda Los Sebastianes…

The Mexican band has earned their third No. 1, and second in a row, on Billboard’s Regional Mexican Airplay chart as “En Eso No Quedamos” rises 2-1 on the survey dated July 4.

“En Eso No Quedamos” follows the six-week reign of the group’s “Mi Meta Contigo” in November.

Banda Los Sebastianesfirst led the Regional Mexican Airplay chart for six weeks with its longest-charting title “A Través del Vaso” (39 weeks on the chart) in February 16, 2019, over three years after the band’s first entry on the chart, “Indeleble” (No. 39, Sept. 2015). 

“En Eso No Quedamos” rules the roost with a 13% boost in audience impressions (to 6.2 million) earned in the week ending June 28, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data.

With a 19-week climb to No. 1, “En Eso No Quedamos” ties for slowest rise to No. 1 on the list in 2020. Banda Sinaloense MS de Sergio Lizarraga also took a 19-week journey to the top with “No Elegí Conocerte” on the February 15-dated list. (

Concurrently, the new song lifts 13-12 on the overall Latin Airplay chart.

“En Eso No Quedamos” is the second single off Banda Los Sebastianes’ 2018 album En Vida, which launched in the top 20 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart.

Ozuna Wins BMI Latin Awards’ Contemporary Latin Song of the Year for “Taki Taki”

Ozuna’s Taki Taki-ing the crown…

BMI has announced the winners of its 27th annual BMI Latin Awards, including the 28-year-old Puerto Rican reggaeton and Latin trap singer’s “Taki Taki.”

Ozuna’s smash hit collaboration with DJ Snake, Selena Gomez and Cardi B, which reached No. 1 on Billboard’s Latin Airplay chart, was named contemporary Latin Song of the Year. 

The winners were announced online after BMI canceled its March 31 awards ceremony due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Other top winners include songwriter/producer Gaby Music, aka Juan Rivera Vazquez, who won contemporary Latin songwriter of the year for “Taki Taki,” sharing the honor with Ozuna, Dimelo Vi‘s Vicente Saavedra and Jorden “Pardison Fontaine” Thorpe.

Christian Nodal‘s “No Te Contaron Mal,” penned by Edgar Barrera, was named regional Mexican song of the year. The track spent 38 weeks atop Billboard’s Regional Mexican Songs chart. 

The regional Mexican songwriter of the year award went to Geovani Cabrera for “A Través Del Vaso,” “El Lujo De Tenerte,” “Segunda Opción” and “Te Darán Ganas De Verme,” bringing his career total to 12 BMI Latin Awards.

The BMI Latin publisher of the year award, for the fifth year in a row, went to Sony/ATV Music Publishing with 16 of the most-performed songs, including “Taki Taki,” “Ambiente,” “Amigos Con Derechos,” among others.

Wisin & Yandel, who were slated to receive BMI’s president’s award this year, will now be honored at the 2021 BMI Latin Awards.
