Selena Gomez is ready to come & getout the vote…
iHeartMedia has announced the official launch of its 2020 voter awareness initiative, “Why I’m Voting,” with the 28-year-old Mexican American “Come & Get It” singer and actress taking part.
In addition to Gomez, who took part in last month’s Register a Friend initiative last month, the non-partisan campaign will feature artists like Billie Eilish, John Legend and Imagine Dragons frontman Dan Reynolds sharing the personal reasons voting matters to them in the upcoming 2020 election.
Other famous faces taking part in the campaign include Dan + Shay, Finneas, Saweetie, Michelle Williams, DJ Khaled, Diplo and dozens more.
Additionally, iHeartMedia listeners will also have the opportunity to record and submit their own 20-second audio or video message about why they’re voting here.
The campaign is set to run from now through Election Day on Tuesday, November 3.
“With voter turnout expected to hit record numbers on Election Day, ‘Why I’m Voting’ presents a rare opportunity for people of all backgrounds and beliefs to have their voices heard by millions of their fellow Americans before we cast our votes in November,” said iHeartMedia president of entertainment enterprises John Sykes of the new campaign in a statement.
To support the initiative, iHeartMedia is also premiering a brand-new “Why I’m Voting” companion podcast, featuring conversations with the likes of Pitbull, Melissa Etheridge and comedian Chelsea Handler about political issues close to their hearts and the personal stories about why heading to the polls to cast their votes matters to them.
The first four episodes (featuring Finneas, Jewel, Will Ferrell and comedian Baratunde Thurston) are available now.
