No bones about it… Freddie Prinze Jr. is heading back to primetime television.
The 37-year-old part-Puerto Rican actor has signed on to guest star on the upcoming ninth season of Bones.
His stint on Fox’s crime comedy-drama series marks his first TV role since an appearance in a 2010 episode of Psych.
Prinze will portray covert CIA agent Danny, an old associate of Booth’s (David Boreanaz) who has an interest in Booth and Brennan’s murder investigation in the Sept. 16 premiere episode.
Although he’s only scheduled to appear in one episode, there is potential for Prinze to return later in the season, according to TV Line, who first reported the news of his casting.
Aside from his short-lived ABC sitcom Freddie, Prinze’s past TV credits include arcs on 24 and Boston Legal.
Prinze married Sarah Michelle Gellar in 2002 and the couple have two children together, Charlotte, 3, and Rocky, 10 months old.
Bones returns for its ninth season on Monday, September 16 at 8:00 pm on Fox.
