There’s no doubt he’s a rising Latin music superstar… But Prince Royce could soon dominate Billboard‘s mainstream charts with his new English-language crossover music.
Today, the 22-year-old Dominican-American singer released “Addicted,” the first single from his forthcoming new English-language album. It’s a sultry ballad that contains hints of Bachata – which originated in his parents’ native Dominican Republic – and tropical rhythms.
Royce started making his own music – inspired by tropical beats, Latin pop, traditional Bachata and R&B – while growing up in the Bronx, New York.
Last March, he released his self-titled debut album that took the Latin music world by storm. The album was certified double platinum in the United States and spawned two hit singles, “Stand by Me” and “Corazon Sin Cara.” Following the album’s success, Prince Royce won three Billboard Latin Music awards and he received a Latin Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary Tropical Album.
Prince Royce is now trying to take his success a step further introducing his music to American pop and R&B audiences. He’s currently recording two albums, including an English-language LP.
“The fans have been waiting a long time for new Royce music and I’m excited to give them two albums,” he recently told MTV Tr3s. “These are both completely new. 20 new songs to be exact. It’s a lot of hard work, but I think the fans deserve it.”
This fall Prince Royce will be a special guest on the U.S. leg of Enrique Iglesias’ Euphoria Tour, featuring Pitbull.
“It’s an honor to be working with Enrique and Pitbull,” gushes Royce. “They’re fun guys to work with and they work really hard. I’ll definitely be singing ‘Addicted’ on the tour.”
But why wait to hear his new single in concert when you can download “Addicted” on iTunes now.
