Pedro Pascal’s “The Wild Robot” Debuts at No. 1 at U.S. Box Office, Earning $35 Million

Pedro Pascal is going wild

The 49-year-old Chilean actor’s latest film, The Wild Robot, has bumped Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice from the No. 1 spot at the U.S. box office.

The Wild RobotDreamWorks Animation‘s adaptation of Peter Brown‘s beloved, award-winning bestseller of the same name raked in $35 million in its opening weekend, with an additional $18.1 million internationally, for a global debut of $53.1 million, per Comscore.

The animated adventure follows the journey of a robot — ROZZUM unit 7134, “Roz” for short (voiced by Oscar-winner Lupita Nyong’o) — that’s shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and must learn to adapt to the harsh surroundings, gradually building relationships with the animals on the island and becoming the adoptive parent of an orphaned gosling.

The rest of the all-star voice cast includes Pascal, who voices the character of Fink, a mischievous red fox who is the first animal that Roz helps and befriends, Catherine O’Hara, Bill Nighy, Kit Connor and Stephanie Hsu.

Pascal is known for appearing as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones, The Mandalorian in The Mandalorian, Joel Miller in The Last of Us and Javi Gutierrez in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

He’ll next appear in Gladiator II as Marcus Acacius, Season 2 of The Last of Us and Fantastic Four: First Steps as Reed Richards, aka Mister Fantastic.
