The 35-year-old Mexican singer and songwriter has joined voices with Alejandro Fernandez to release the single “Me Está Doliendo,” on Thursday, May 8.
León and Fernández could have gone the Regional Mexican route, or in any direction really, as two of the most versatile artists in Latin music, but they opted to go the acoustic-pop ballad route.
“Me Está Doliendo” is a beautiful, stripped-down ballad powered by prickly and acoustic guitars and a thumping drum beat that serve as a canvas to León and Fernández’s pathos-fueled delivery. They each take turns expressing just how they’re dealing with a heartbreak that doesn’t seem to heal.
“It’s hurting me, and I ask myself if maybe you’re thinking of me, I’m not meant for someone else to be hugging me,” Fernández sings evocatively. “That’s how things happen in this heart, it’s good at loving you but bad at forgetting you,” León responds, just before we get a mesmerizing electric guitar solo.
The new collaboration comes just days after León and Fernández uploaded a clip on social media singing Fernández’s hit song “Me Dediqué a Perderte” together, which prompted many to think that they were releasing a new version of the 2004 classic.
“Thank you [Alejandro Fernández] for singing with me one of my favorite songs,” León wrote on Instagram. Shortly after, the two announced it was actually a new song they were releasing, titled “Me Está Doliendo,” which will be part of an extended version of León’s Palabra de To’s.

The Seattle Marinersthe 26-year-old Dominican professional baseball outfielder off waivers from their American League West rival Texas Rangers on Tuesday.
The Mariners also designated right-hander Luis F. Castillo for assignment.
Taveras spent the first six years of his Major League Baseball career with Texas and started all five games of the Rangers’ 2023 World Series win over the Arizona Diamondbacks in center field.
But the Rangers placed Taveras on outright waivers after Sunday’s game against the Mariners.
Taveras was batting .241 with one home run, eight RBIs and six stolen bases through 30 games. He’s a career .240 hitter with 39 homers, 168 RBIs and 72 stolen bases since making his major league debut in 2020.
Meanwhile, Castillo, 30, made two starts earlier this season and pitched to a 7.71 ERA, with seven walks to just five strikeouts. He previously had not played in the big leagues since 2022 with the Detroit Tigers.
The 67-year-old Cuban-American singer, songwriter, actress, author and philanthropist’s latest single “Raíces” lands atop Billboard’s Latin Airplay, Tropical Airplay and Latin Pop Airplay charts dated May 10.
Having first led Latin Airplay with “Abriendo Puertas” in October 1995, Estefan boasts the longest span of reigning at No. 1: 29 years, six months and three weeks.
She also becomes the seventh act to have topped the chart in the 1990s, 2000s, ‘10s and ‘20s.
“To see ‘Raíces’ reach No. 1 across the Latin Airplay, Tropical Airplay and Latin Pop Airplay charts is both humbling and incredibly emotional for me,” Estefan tells Billboard. “It’s been over a decade since I’ve had a song connect on this level, and I’m beyond grateful.”
Estefan last reached the summit on Latin Airplay in 2012, when “Hotel Nacional” ruled for one week.
Prior to that, she topped the list with “No Llores” for two weeks in 2007, marking her fifth No. 1 of the 2000s. She earned her first five leaders in the ‘90s (dating to the chart’s 1994 start).
“Personally, this song is a tribute to where I come from — to my heritage, my culture and the rhythms that shaped me,” Estefan adds of “Raíces” (which translates in English to “roots”). “Professionally, it’s a reminder that music truly has no expiration date when it comes from the heart, and to see Latin music elevated and crossing charts globally really is a dream come true and a testament to the growth of our culture and sound.”
“Raíces” makes its No. 1 breakthrough on Latin Airplay as the song soars 11-1 with the Greatest Gainer honors, awarded weekly to the song with the largest increase in audience among the chart’s 50 titles. It earned 13 million impressions, up 123%, in the week ending May 1, according to Luminate.
“Raíces,” released on March 20 under Crescent Moon/Sony Music Latin, received substantial support from Spanish Broadcasting System radio stations during the latest tracking week, led by WZNT, WODA. WRXD and WMEG in Puerto Rico, as well as Miami’s WCMQ, Orlando’s WPYO and Tampa’s WSUN in Florida.
As Estefan achieves her 12th ruler on Latin Airplay, she secures her place among an elite group of artists who have logged at least one Latin Airplay chart-topper in four distinct decades.
She becomes the third woman artist to achieve the feat, joining Shakira and Jennifer Lopez. The other such acts overall: Enrique Iglesias (who holds a record 32 No. 1 hits, spanning 1995-2024), Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony and Alejandro Fernández.
With “Raíces” also claiming the top spot on the Tropical Airplay and Latin Pop Airplay charts, it dons a rare triple crown, becoming the first title to top the three tallies since Carlos Vives and Camilo’s “Baloncito Viejo” held command across the June 18, 2022-dated rankings.
On Tropical Airplay, Estefan scores her first No. 1 since “Hotel Nacional” in 2012. On Latin Pop Airplay, she had last led with “No Me Dejes de Querer” in 2000.
Thanks almost entirely to its radio haul, “Raíces” makes its way to the Hot Latin Songs chart, where it debuts at No. 37. It’s her 31st entry, a total that includes 15 No. 1s among 23 top 10s.
“Thank you to the fans, radio and everyone who’s embraced ‘Raíces’,” Estefan says. “You’ve made this journey back to my musical roots so meaningful and unforgettable.”

Aubrey Plaza is preparing to help protect children’s health and well-being…
The 40-year-old half-Puerto Rican actress and comedian will lead the under-the-radar drama The Accompanist alongside Susan Surrandon and Everly Carganilla.
Actor, writer, director and comedian Zach Woods is making his feature directorial debut.
Mister Smith Entertainment is handling international sales on the film, which is currently in post-production. CAA Media Finance and Gersh are handling North American sales.
The synopsis reads: “When 9-year-old Emily (Carganilla) accidentally tells her school nurse that her dementia-stricken grandpa almost got them killed, a rookie child-welfare agent Sarah (Plaza) is sent to their house to investigate. A botched extraction ensues and Emily is taken and placed with Sylvia, a new foster parent. Sylvia (Susan Sarandon) is mysterious, witchy, funny, and unpredictable. Her natural warmth and playfulness are complicated by the fact that she is haunted by visitations from her past. As Emily and Sylvia grow closer, their worlds, dreams, and visions begin to overlap. As their friendship deepens, they must decide how much they are willing to risk— whether their burgeoning love is worth the ghosts that it seems to summon.”
Produced in association with Aubrey Plaza’s Evil Hag Productions and Cinereach, the film’s screenplay was co-written by Woods and Brandon Gardner, both alumni of the US comedy troupe Upright Citizens Brigade. The pair have collaborated previously on short films including David, starring Will Ferrell, which was nominated for the Short Film Palme D’Or at the 2020 Cannes Film Festival and winner of the Grand Prix at the Bilbao International Film Festivalof Short Films. The movie also reunites Woods and Gardner with actress Carganilla, who starred opposite Michael Peña in their short film, Bud.
Michael Sagol, Managing Director at Caviar, says: “Zach is both irrepressibly creative and irrepressibly funny. After seeing both of his short films we were floored by how well-crafted and moving the stories were, which led to us inquiring about what he was turning his attention to next – an amazing personal script called The Accompanist. We’re so proud to be bringing Zach’s first feature to life together.”
Mister Smith Entertainment’s David Garrett commented: “The script itself has a unique voice, and the attachment of Susan, Aubrey and Everly to the project will bring magic to an already beautifully honed story, in the hands of the talented Mr. Woods.”
