Great Scot! Reigning “American Idol” champion Scotty McCreery will be hitting the road next year with country superstar Brad Paisley.
Paisley made the announcement during the encore portion of his last show on his “H2O II: Wetter & Wilder Tour.” Paisley surprised the audience by bringing the 17-year-old part-Puerto Rican singer on stage and asking him if he’d like to go on tour with him… The North Carolina native responded, “Yes!” Paisley later tweeted a photo of the two with the message, “Look who’s here tonight. Hopefully @ScottyMcCreery is learning how NOT to behave on tour.”
“it’s really humbling that somebody like him would invite me to tour w/ him,” tweeted McCreery, who was recently named to Billboard.com’s 21 Under 21 list. “I just hope i’m ready for any pranks he throws my way.”
Meanwhile, the deep-voiced country singer is preparing for next week’s release of his debut album, “Clear As Day.” He’ll make several national television appearances and attend a hometown event celebrating the album release and his 18th birthday.
“I am so excited,” says McCreery. “This is something we’ve been working on for months now and the release date is almost here. We are super-stoked and ready for you guys to hear the music.”
Since winning “Idol,” McCreery’s exclusive Wal-Mart disc, “American Idol Season 10: Scotty McCreery EP,” has sold 185,000 copies, and his first single “I Love You This Big,” reached number 15 on Billboard‘s Country Songs chart.
