It’s Sonnyside up for Maurice Benard…
The 46th annual Daytime Emmy Awards were held at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium over the weekend, with the Salvadorian and Nicaraguan American actor and soap opera star taking home one of the top prizes.
Benard was named Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his iconic role as Sonny Corinthoson ABC’s General Hospital, a role he’s portrayed since 1993.
It’s Benard’s second win in the category. He previously took home the award in 2003.
Alejandra Oraa has picked up the first Daytime Emmy of her career.
The 31-year-old Venezuelan television anchor and co-host of CNN en Español‘s Destinos was named Outstanding Daytime Talent in a Spanish Language Program.
Extra’s Mario Lopez and The Talk‘s Sheryl Underwood served as hosts for this year’s show, which was streamed on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter.
