Mariah Carey is staying in Las Vegas longer…
The 48-year-old half-Venezuelan American Grammy-winning songstress announced on Monday that her “The Butterfly Returns” Las Vegas residency will extend into 2019.
The residency, initially set to wrap in early September, will receive five additional dates in February at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
Carey also told PEOPLE that she’s been back in the studio working on a new album.
“Some of the record is lighthearted and fun, and some [songs] I really went deep in terms of the lyrical content. There’s a nice cross-section of things,” Carey said about the future release. The upcoming album will be Carey’s long-awaited follow up to 2014’s Me. I Am Mariah….The Elusive Chanteuse.
Tickets to the extended dates of Carey’s “The Butterfly Returns” Vegas residency go on sale Friday, August 31 at 10:00 am local time, but fan club members will be granted early access.
Though Carey has announced five dates, only four are available through her website at the time of press.
