An eating disorder is nothing to kid about… And, Demi Lovato won’t put up with any jokes that make people think otherwise.
The 19-year-old part-Mexican actress, who once starred on Disney’s Sonny with a Chance, took on her former employer via Twitter about that exact subject.
Lovato, who went to rehab last year for bulimia, was reportedly angered that a character on the Disney Channel’s Shake It Up said, “I could eat you up, well, if I ate.”
“I find it really funny how a company can lose one of their actress’ from the pressures of an EATING DISORDER and yet still make joke about that very disease. #nice,” tweeted Lovato.
She later continued her argument with, “And is it just me or are the actress’ [on Disney Channel] getting THINNER AND THINNER…. I miss the days of RAVEN, and LIZZIE MCGUIRE,” and then “Dear Disney Channel, EATING DISORDERS ARE NOT SOMETHING TO JOKE ABOUT.”
Obviously, the Disney Channel is following Lovato’s feed because they pulled the episode and tweeted back, ”@ddlovato – we hear you & are pulling both episodes as quickly as possible & reevaluating them.”
