Lionel Messi has entered the 700 club…

And Messi did it in a big way… scoring one goal and assisting on the other two in the victory.

Luis Suarezopened the scoring in the first half and Messi doubled Barca‘s lead four minutes later, scoring his 613th goal for the club.

Messi also surpassed Cristiano Ronaldo‘s Champions League record by scoring against his 34th opponent in the competition.

It was a therapeutic win for Barcelona, who had received  scathing criticism for their recent poor displays against LeganesLevante and Slavia Prague, even though they’re atop the standings of La Liga and their Champions League group.

“Our first objective was to qualify as group winners but we also wanted to show a real improvement in our play,” said Suarez.

“We relaxed a bit in the second half and hung on to our lead but we should still leave here feeling very happy.”
