Make that three crossover hits for J Balvin…
The 34-year-old Colombian singer’s single with the Black Eyed Peas, “RITMO (Bad Boys for Life),” rises from No. 44 to No. 36 on the Billboard Hot 100 (dated February 22).
It’s J Balvin’s third top 40 Hot 100 entry and first since “I Like It,” with Cardi Band Bad Bunny, which topped the July 7, 2018-dated chart. He first hit the top 40 with “Mi Gente,” with Willy Williamand featuring Beyoncé(No. 3, October 2017).
It’s the Black Eyed Peas’ 15th top 40 Hot 100 hit and first since “Just Can’t Enough,” which reached No. 3 in April 2011.
Fueling its ascent on the multi-metric Hot 100, “RITMO” rises 27-26 on the Radio Songs chart with 34.4 million audience impressions, up 5%, and re-enters Digital Song Sales at No. 36 with 5,000 sold, up 23%, according to Nielsen Music/MRC Data. It also drew 7.5 million U.S. streams, down 1%, in the latest tracking week.
“RITMO,” which reworks Corona‘s dance classic “The Rhythm of the Night,” which hit No. 11 in January 1995, leads the Hot Dance/Electronic Songsand Hot Latin Songscharts for a fifth week each. It’s J Balvin’s first No. 1 on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs. “RITMO” is his eighth Hot Latin Songs No. 1, the most among all acts dating to his first week at the summit nearly five years ago.
