The American Idol judges’ table may be missing Jennifer Lopez next season… But it may feature another of Latin music’s brightest stars…
Enrique Iglesias, currently on tour with the departing Idol judge, is reportedly being considered to fill the spot left open by Steven Tyler’s departure, according to People magazine.
“Idol has expressed a lot of interest but no final word on either side yet,” a source tells the magazine of the 36-year-old Spanish singer, who has sold more than 55 million records worldwide, making him one of the best selling Spanish language artists of all time.
If chosen to sit alongside newly minted Idol judge Mariah Carey, it wouldn’t be Iglesias’ first stint as a judge on a Fox singing competition…
The “I Like It” singer served as a guest judge on the premiere season of The X Factor, helping Nicole Scherzinger whittle down her picks during the beginning stages of the competition.
Also reportedly being considered for a seat at the table: Nick Jonas, who tweeted about the possibility earlier this month. Additionally, there’s talk that Nicki Minaj is thisclose to signing on for the show.
There’s still no word on whether perennial judge Randy Jackson will be back.
