George Lopezis jazzed up for his next gig!
The 57-year-old Mexican-American actor/comedian will return as host of the Los Angeles Philharmonic Association’s annual Playboy Jazz Festival at Los Angeles’ iconic Hollywood Bowl.
The 41st installment will take place on June 8-9.
The jam-packed lineup features an eclectic mix of jazz-and-beyond artists, including Terence Blanchard Featuring The E-Collective, Kool & The Gang, Boz Scaggs, Béla Fleck and The Flecktones, The Maceo, Parker Big Band, The Cookers, Angélique Kidjo, Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Benny Golson’s 90th Birthday Quartet, The Family Stone, Sheila E., Terrace Martin, Sona Jobartehand more.
The event will also honor the late Nudgu Chancler. The celebration will be held with Patrice Rushen, MD and guests Ernie Watts, Alphonso Johnson, Terri Lyne Carrington, Doc Powell, Byron Miller, Rayford Griffin, Josie James, TC Carson.
Additionally, the Hollywood Bowl announced its Jazz at the Bowl2019 summer series, featuring LA Phil’s Creative Chair for Jazz Herbie Hancockwith R+R=Nowand special guests Nonameand Phoelix; Tony Bennett; Michael McDonald; Chaka Khan; Buddy Guy; Jimmie Vaughan; Charlie Musselwhite; a tribute to Brazil featuring the Ivan Lins Quartet with Big Band conducted by John Beasleyand special guests Dianne Reevesand New York Voices, and Lee Ritenourwith special guests Dave Grusinand Luciana Souza; The Roots; Christian McBride Big Band; Ben Harper; Neneh Cherry; Black Movie Soundtrack III, and more to be announced.
