Alejandro Fernández is flashing the world…
The 45-year-old Mexican singer is using the power of social media to spread mariachi music to the world.
Fernandez has launched a campaign titled “La música rompe fronteras” to educate people about Mexican folklore — in particular, the country’s traditional mariachi music.
“So proud of our culture, of our folklore and how music really does break borders. I want to share this with the world,” he tweeted.
The campaign is also being used to promote the 23rd anniversary of the annual Encuentro Internacional del Mariachi y Charrería — art, music and cultural festival — taking place in Guadalajara from Aug. 26 to Sept. 4.
The campaign kicked off with a mariachi flash mob taking over La Plaza Mayor in Madrid with 11 members of Mariachi Real de México joining 23 musicians from the Film Symphony Orchestra.
