Mariah Carey is ready to stop, collaborate and listen…
The 47-year-old half-Venezuelan American singer has been taking part in studio sessions with some new collaborators.
After appearing in Instagram photos with DJ Khaled and Travi$ Scott earlier this month, Carey is working on new music with Compton rapper YG, his rep confirms to Billboard.
According to TMZ, the pair are working on a “breakup record” that is believed to be inspired by her split from her ex-fiance, billionaire James Packer.
The song and its music video, reportedly filmed within 24 hours, is expected to debut on the forthcoming episode of E!‘s Mariah’s World this weekend.
TMZ cameras also caught Mimi and YG leaving Los Angeles restaurant Catch. When asked if they’ll be collaborating on a song, YG said, “I don’t know what we doing.” Another cameraman also asked Carey if she ruled out any performances following the New Year’s Eve lip-sync debacle, and she responded, “No, that was nonsense.”
She’s also set to embark on a forthcoming tour with Lionel Richie.
In a recent interview with Billboard, Carey’s manager teased new records, saying, “Mariah’s working on new music and there’s so many things yet to be announced.”
