The 42-year-old half-Cuban-American actor, who earned a SAG Award nomination for being part of the ensemble cast of Showtime’s Nurse Jackie and HBO’s Boardwalk Empire, appears in the recently released trailer for the upcoming fifth season of the Showtime dramedy.

No word on whether Cannavale’s return as the confrontational Mike Cruz will be for more than one episode.

The trailer for Nurse Jackie, which stars Edie Falco as the titular character, features a potential new romance with the cop who responds to her car accident seemingly moments after her divorce is finalized.

In a bombshell, she fully discloses who she really is – an over-worked, recently divorced mother of two and a recovering drug addict – during their first potential date.

The fifth season of Nurse Jackie premieres on April 14 at 9:00 pm ET on Showtime.
