He’s already earned an Oscar for playing a psychopathic killer in “No Country for Old Men,” but Javier Bardem is heading back to the dark side.
The 42-year-old Spanish actor will play the villain in the next James Bond movie, which currently has the working title of “Bond 23.”
During an interview with Christiane Amanpour on ABC’s “Nightline” about his involvement with a charity to aid west Saharan refugees, Bardem confirmed he would be playing the bad guy opposite returning 007-star Daniel Craig in the new Bond film.
“I am very excited,” said Bardem about getting involved in one of the most iconic film franchises of all time. “My parents took me to watch the movies and I saw all of them. So to play that is going to be fun. They chose me to play this man, but I cannot give you many details.”
The Sam Mendes-directed film is scheduled to hit theaters in November 2012.
