Antonio Banderas is Miami’s new king of fashion…
The 55-year-old Spanish actor, director and producer will serve as the new honorary president of Miami Fashion Week, scheduled for March 2016, according to organizers.
“With his creative talent, his connections and his charisma he will give a new push to Miami Fashion Week,” said Julio Iranzo, the president of the event, referring to the actor.
In a statement, Banderas said that Miami “deserves to have a fashion event at the highest international level,” and he emphasized that the city is experiencing “strong growth in all areas.”
“We’re going to contribute a new way of communicating to fashion,” said the actor, who is preparing for his duties next year by launching his own menswear line called Antonio Banderas Design.
Iranzo, meanwhile, said he was grateful for the involvement of Banderas as honorary president of the event and emphasized that the organization is going through a period of renewal and relaunching to position Miami Fashion Week at the “peak” of international fashion.
Iranzo also said that The Fashion Shows group, which promotes the Miami Fashion Week brand, has a strategic relaunching plan that “will revolutionize” the fashion industry in Miami, and he added that along with Banderas it will transform the event into a reference point for the national and international market.
