Bad Bunnyis Spotify’s man to beat in Mexico…
The digital music service has announced the nominees for its first-ever Spotify Awards, with the 25-year-old Puerto Rican Latin trap and reggaeton singer leading the pack.
Bad Bunny is a 13-time finalist with two of his hit singles, “Callaita” and “La Cancion” up for song of the summer.
He’s followed by Banda MS, J Balvin, and Daddy Yankeewho are tied with 10 mentions each.
Other finalists include Natti Natasha, Ozuna, Karol G, Guaynaa, Sech, Luis Miguel, and Paulo Londra.
The awards, according to an official statement, are based 100 percent on the user-generated data of Spotify users in Mexico. In other words, the patterns and listening habits of each user will determine the winners.
The Spotify Awards count with more than 50 categories including artist of the year, most-streamed female artist, emerging artist, and most-added to playlist artist, and most-streamed Mexican artist globally, which recognizes finalists Alejandro Fernández, Banda MS, Luis Miguel, Maná and Reik.
The inaugural event will broadcast live from Mexico City on March 5 via Telemundoand Universoin the United States.
