The future’s so bright for Fernanda Andrade and her movie career…
This weekend, the 27-year-old Brazilian actress scored her first No. 1 film…in her first feature film.
Andrade—who has appeared in several television programs like The Glades, Sons of Anarchy and The Mentalist—stars in The Devil Inside, which celebrated a record-breaking opening weekend at the box office this past weekend.
The thriller, made for only $1 million, racked up $34.5 million in ticket sales, making it the biggest opening of all-time during early January, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
In the horror film, based on a true story, Andrade stars as Isabella Rossi, an Italian woman seeking the truth about her mother Maria, who killed three church members during her own exorcism. When Maria was transferred to a facility in Rome from the United States, Isabella began to question whether or not a supernatural force possessed her mother. In the process, she winds up encountering several exorcisms.
And if you haven’t seen The Devil Inside yet, Andrade highly recommends it, especially if you like horror movies.
“I think it will scare your socks off,” says Andrade, who was born in Sao Paolo, Brazil. “And I think it’s just a new, fresh take on it, uncomfortably so. It’s a new, fresh look at exorcisms.”
The Devil Inside is in theaters now.
