Anthony Ramos is reaching new heights…
Warner Bros’ has released the first full trailer for In the Heights, the much-anticipated film adaptation of Lin-Manuel Miranda’s Tony Award-winning Broadway musical starring the 28-year-old Puerto Rican actor/singer.
The new trailer for the film, directed by Jon M. Chu, gives a more extensive look at the film’s cast and character details.
Ramos’ Usnavi opens his Washington Heights bodega, and Jimmy Smits’ Kevin Rosario stops into the store in the opening frames.
The trailer then builds on the vibrant street life of Miranda’s beloved Washington Heightsneighborhood in Upper Manhattan.
Here’s how Warner Bros. describes the film: “Lights up on Washington Heights…The scent of a cafecito caliente hangs in the air just outside of the 181st Street subway stop, where a kaleidoscope of dreams rallies this vibrant and tight-knit community. At the intersection of it all is the likable, magnetic bodega owner Usnavi (Ramos), who saves every penny from his daily grind as he hopes, imagines and sings about a better life.”
Directed by Chu from a screenplay by the stage musical’s book writer Quiara Alegría Hudes ,In The Heightsfeatures music and lyrics by Miranda, and is produced by Miranda and Hudes, among others.
In addition to Ramos and Smits, In the Heightsalso stars Corey Hawkins, Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera, Olga Merediz, Daphne Rubin-Vega, Gregory Diaz IV, Stephanie Beatri zand Dascha Polanco.
In the Heights was filmed in New York, primarily on location in the community of Washington Heights.
Warner Bros will release In The Heights on June 26, 2020.
