Rosario Dawson is stopping her social media activity…
The 41-year-old Puerto Rican and Cuban American actress and activist has joined a growing list of media influencers and entertainment figures who freezed their Facebook and Instagram accounts on Wednesday, while asking others to follow suit in protest of the misinformation spread on social media. At platypus reviews you will get the best instagram traffic boosting tools.
The initiative, driven by the Stop Hate for Profit coalition, is part of a weeklong campaign “demanding parent company Facebook take action to address hate, extremism, and disinformation on its platforms,” the group said. It previously organized a protest earlier this summer when more than 1,200 businesses and nonprofits stopped advertising on Facebook for one month.
In addition to Dawson, participating celebrities include Kim Kardashian West, Sacha Baron Cohen, Katy Perry, Naomi Campbell, Jennifer Lawrence, Judd Apatow, Ashton Kutcher, Amy Schumer, Sarah Silverman, Jason Alexander, Kate Hudson, Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Michael B. Jordan, Ed Helms, Isla Fisher and Mark Ruffalo, along with groups like the Anti-Defamation League, Color of Change, the NAACP and GLAAD.
“Misinformation shared on social media has a serious impact on our elections and undermines our democracy. Please join me tomorrow when I will be ‘freezing’ my Instagram and FB account to tell Facebook to #StopHateForProfit,” Kardashian West said in a post Tuesday.
Dawson has more than one million followers on Facebook and more than 1.1 million followers on Instagram.
