Los Lobosare back on the Billboardcharts…
For the first time in nearly 20 years, the Chicano rock band appears on any Billboard Latin albums chart, as their bilingual Christmas album, Llegó Navidad, opens at No. 8 on the Latin Pop Albums chart dated December 21.
The 12-track set, released October 2 via Rhino Entertainment, is the only Christmas album to debut in the list in 2019 and the first since Mexico’s Pandoraarrived at No. 17 with Navidad con Pandora in January 2017.
Llegó Navidadis the first ever holiday effort by Los Lobos, which includes classics from North, Central and South America ranging from son jarochotunes to salsa and boleros, and “Christmas and You,” the new song written exclusively for the album.
Los Lobos’ 16th studio album set debuts in the top tier mainly on the strength of traditional album sales. It earned 1,000 equivalent album units in the week ending December 12, according to Nielsen Music. It concurrently, secures a No. 4 debut on the Latin Albums Sales chart; their first top 10 there.
The East California quintet last scored a top 10 on any Billboard Latin chart with Del Este De Los Angeles (Just Another Band From East L.A.)as the set peaked at No. 9 on the Regional Mexican Albums chart and at No. 31 on the Top Latin Albums chart in October 2000.
