Daddy Yankee is back in the double-billion club…
The 43-year-old Puerto Rican rapper/singer and Snow’s collaboration “Con Calma” has reached a new milestone, surpassing over two billion video views on YouTube.
This marks Daddy Yankee’s second video and Snow’s first visual to reach the remarkable number.
“Con Calma” also becomes Daddy Yankee’s seventh video as lead, featured artist or collaborator to form part of YouTube’s Billion Views Club.
“To transcend different cultures singing in my language and representing it has been a core mission since the beginning of my career,” Daddy Yankee expressed on Instagram. “There is no greater satisfaction than to continue building my legacy and continue to be relevant in the music industry.”
The global hit, which is an energetic, bilingual remake of Snow’s 1992 hit “Informer,” peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot Latin Songs chart dated May 4, 2019, where it reigned for 14 consecutive weeks.
In addition, YouTube highlights that Daddy Yankee is the most-subscribed Latin artist on the platform with 30.6 million subscribers at the time of publishing.
“Huge congrats, Boss! It’s amazing to see you rompiendola on YouTube with ‘Con Calma’ hitting 2 Billion views and being the most subscribed Latin artist on our platform,” said Sandra Jimenez, head of Music Partnerships in Latin America at YouTube, in a press statement. “Your success on YouTube is a testament to your incredible musical talent, high engagement with fans, and YouTube’s unique ability to connect music artists with fans globally.”
Daddy Yankee and Snow reached this new achievement over a year after “Con Calma” entered YouTube’s Billion Views Club in June 2019.
