The first time’s the charm for Ignacio Ferreras…
The Spanish director’s first full-length animated Spanish film Arrugas has received a European Film Awards nomination.
Ferreras’ 2D-animated film, based on Paco Roca‘s comic, concerns two friends in a retirement home where one tries to keep the other out of the dreaded Alzheimer’s ward.
Arrugas, nominated in the Animated Film category, will face off against Tomas Lunak’s Alois Nobel and Peter Lord’s The Pirates! In An Adventure with Scientists.
Meanwhile, Alberto Iglesias has picked up yet another nod for his work on the music for Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.
The 57-year-old Spanish composer, who was named composer of the year at this year’s World Soundtrack Awards, earned a nod in the composer category.
Iglesias will face off against Aufort & Gabriel Yared for A Royal Affair, François Couturier for Shun Li and the Poet and George Fenton for The Angels’ Share.
The European Film Awards ceremony will take place December 1.
