Following his critically acclaimed appearance on Glee last season, Ricky Martin could be returning to the small screen in the near future.
The 40-year-old Puerto Rican singer has signed a talent holding deal with Universal Television to develop and star in his first network television series, as well as TV specials.
“Ricky is an iconic superstar who is as talented as he is popular,” said Universal TV EVP Bela Bajaria about Martin, who has been wowing audiences as Che Guevara on Broadway this year in the revival of the musical Evita. “Whether he’s performing before sold-out concert crowds, or starring on Broadway, where he is currently playing to SRO in Evita, Ricky connects with his audience in a very palpable way — and we are thrilled that he will be adding TV star to his incredible resume.”
The former Menudo member has previously guest starred on The Love Boat back in 1985, and appeared on General Hospital as the beloved character Miguel Morez from 1994–95.
