Lin-Manuel Miranda is this year’s Tony Awards darling…
The 36-year-old Puerto Rican composer, lyricist, librettist, rapper, and actor received four nominations for the 70th annual Tony Awards, which were announced Tuesday morning by Andrew Rannells and Nikki M. James.
Miranda, a two-time Tony Award winner for In The Heights, is nominated in the Best Musical, Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score and Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role in a Musical categories.
Hamilton, who created the smash hit musical, leads the race with a historic 16 nominations, followed by Shuffle Along with ten and She Loves Me with eight.
But Miranda isn’t the only Latino nominee…
Sergio Trujillo picked up a Tony Award nod for Best Choreography.
The Colombian choreographer earned the recognition for his work on On Your Feet! The Emilio and Gloria Estefan Musical.
Honoring the best of the Broadway season, the awards will be handed out in a June 12 ceremony at 8:00 pm ET, airing live on CBS (tape-delayed on the West Coast) from New York City’s Beacon Theatre.
James Corden will make his debut as the annual event’s emcee.
