Nicky Jam is back on top…
The 34-year-old Puerto Rican and Dominican American singer-songwriter has earned his second No. 1 single on Billboard’s Hot Latin Songs chart as “Hasta El Amanecer” rises 2-1.
The new chart-topper follow’s Nicky Jam’s 30-week summit run alongside Enrique Iglesias with “El Perdon” in 2015.
Nicky Jam’s feat ends a 22-week reign at the top of the charts for J Balvin’s “Ginza,” which became the longest running No. 1 for a solo act, unaccompanied by another. (All of the other longer-leading No. 1s were duets or by soloists featuring a guest star.)
“Amanecer” takes Digital Gainer honors on the chart, selling 3,000 downloads in the week ending March 3 (up four percent, according to Nielsen Music), while a seven percent hike in weekly streams (to 1.7 million domestic plays) also aids in the crowning rise. Increased radio play also causes “Amanecer” to step 2-1 on the Latin Airplay chart, where he notches his third No. 1, rising nine percent to 13.3 million audience impressions (in the week ending March 6).
Over on the Top Latin Albums chart, his Greatest Hits, Vol 1 reaches a new peak (No. 21), earning the Pacesetter tag, after debuting at No. 46 on the May 30 chart.
