Adrienne Bailon is staying real…
The 32-year-old Puerto Rican and Ecuadorian American singer, actress, dancer and television personality’s syndicated talk show has been renewed for two more seasons.
On the strength of year-to-year ratings gains, The Real has become the first syndicated talk show in years to earn a third-season renewal.
And the panel show has done one better than that, getting a renewal for a third and a fourth season by its core station group, the Fox Television Stations, where the talker originated with a trial run in summer 2013.
The Real, from Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, also has become the first freshman or sophomore syndicated talk show this season to get a pickup for next fall.
In Season 2, The Real is up +14% nationally in the key women 25-54 demo, one of only four talk shows in the past 10 years to post sophomore-season ratings improvement. The Real also is one of only two talk shows seeing national rating gains year-over-year this fall.
On the Fox stations, season to date, The Real (0.9 in women 25-54) is even with last season. Paired with Wendy Williams in 16 of the top 25 LPM markets, The Real is retaining 100% of its Wendy Williams lead-in share season to date with all key female demos.
“The Real has been an important piece in building our growing daytime lineup,” said Frank Cicha, SVP Programming at Fox Television Stations. “In fact, in our universe, it often beats or ties The View. That alone is worth two more years in my book.”
The Real is a panel talk show hosted by Bailon, Tamar Braxton, Loni Love, Jeannie Mai and Tamera Mowry-Housley.
“The Real in its second season has expanded on its promise of connecting with the diverse daytime television viewers and is delivering substantial ratings growth in the process,” said WBDTD president Ken Werner. “The series did not invent this genre of television program, nor are they only talk panel on television, but what The Real has done is differentiate itself from the others, quickly becoming an original, distinct and entertaining hour that has giving viewers a reason to make an appointment each and every day.”
