The 23-year-old part-Mexican American singer/actress leaps to the top of Billboard‘s Dance Club Songs chart (dated Sept. 12), as her single “Cool for the Summer” blasts 5-1.
The track reaches the summit in only its fifth week, completing the quickest climb to No. 1 in nearly two years: Lady Gaga‘s “Applause” last needed just five frames to reach the summit in October 2013.
“Cool for the Summer” sports a bevy of dance remixes, including those from Dave Aude, Jump Smokers and Todd Terry.
Lovato has now taken all four of her Dance Club Songs entries to No. 1, beginning two years ago with “Heart Attack.”
Last year, she led with “Neon Lights” and “Really Don’t Care.”
Lovato, who performed her latest hit with assistance from Iggy Azalea on Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards, also enjoys a top 20 placement with the single on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (No. 17, after reaching No. 16). On the Nielsen Music-based Pop Songs airplay chart, “Cool for the Summer” ascends to the top five (7-5).
